This private tour of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte is the best way to experience a wonderful day trip
This exclusion was one of our best experiences while in Paris! Lilite and our driver picked us up from our hotel at 8:30 in the morning in a Mercedes Sprinter van, with plenty of room. Lilite sat in the rear facing seat across from us on the journey to Fontainebleau, giving us notes and preview of what was to come. We we arrived, she quickly guided us into the palace, slipping the lines with her professional guide access. Her knowledge of not only the palace, buts rooms and long history was AMAZING! She also guided us around groups of others so we could see parts of the favorite home of Napoleon away from the crowds. Al along the way, she stopped for photo opportunities and accommodated our desire to document the wonderful trip together. After the interior tour, Lilite walked us through the grounds and gardens. Then she led us up to the city’s center and offered several suggestions for lunch. Once we made our choice to enjoy a beautiful bistro and light lunch, she left us and planned to meet when we were done. After a fantastic charcuterie and wine, we met back with Lilite and the driver and headed out to Vaux Le Vicomte. Our visit to the Vaux chateaux was wonderful. Not crowded at all, and Lilite knew everything we should take the time to explore. She even had a special surprise for us which was not available for all visitors that afforded a fantastic view and experience. Wow, what a wonderful tour! Then after visiting the gift shop briefly, we returned to the van and Lilite sat up front so that we could enjoy the drive back into Paris and our hotel, where they dropped us off around 6:00. It was a perfect day trip, and left us plenty of time and energy for dinner with our friend once we returned.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you so much for this wonderful and detailed review! We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that your day trip to Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte was one of your best experiences in Paris. Lilite will be so pleased to know how much you appreciated her knowledge, thoughtful pacing, and personal touches throughout the day. From the smooth hotel pickup and comfortable ride, to the exclusive access and scenic photo stops, it's clear that you were able to relax and fully enjoy the history and charm of each location. We’re especially glad the balance of structure and flexibility—like giving you time for a peaceful lunch—made the experience even more memorable. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back on another adventure the next time you're in Paris! Warm regards, Angela

Larger car and amazing tour guide made it a great day.
Issue to begin with because they didn’t provide a mini van. We have always had a mini van for a tour of three plus driver and tour guide. They made it happen and got us a larger car for the three of us. It made a huge difference because it was a long day driving and in the traffic. The best part was our amazing tour guide. So professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. One of my favorite from all my traveling around the world. Also the two locations were great. Loved all the stuff on Napoleon.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the initial issue regarding the lack of a minivan for your tour. We are glad that we were able to provide you with a larger car that accommodated your group comfortably during the long day of driving in traffic. We are thrilled to hear about your positive experience with your tour guide. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Paris.
How much does Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $190 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Paris usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Paris is not rushed.
Is Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Paris, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Paris can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Paris and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chateau of Fontainebleau and Vaux le Vicomte 9-Hour Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Paris within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Paris?
+
Paris rewards travelers who book ahead. The headline museums sell timed entry weeks out, the best food walks cap at eight people, and the Seine cruises that are worth doing are the ones that leave after sunset. Everything below is scored by the Outty Ranking so you can tell a genuine local favorite from a coach-tour filler in a single glance. On Outty we rank every Paris experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Louvre Museum Essential Guided Tour Semi Private 6 GUESTS MAX, Louvre Museum Premium Guided Tour 6 GUESTS MAX Entry Included, Paris City Center Free Walking Tour (Tip-Based). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Paris?
+
April to June and September to October, when queues thin out and terraces stay open late. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Paris?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
