Trip could've been better organized, snorkeling was just fine
I was not very happy with this tour. The experience did not match the price point. We paid for snorkelling and not the sea walk so the company split us up into two groups. The main guide Mr. Sony spoke English, but the tour guides on the snorkelling boat had a big language barrier. The weather and sea is not under anyone's control, so I understand that we didn't get to see a lot of fishes, but I wish the company had planned better and taken us to a different spot. The tour felt unorganized and did not deliver on what was promised. They didn't have fins that fit my small feet. They promised us towels, but we didn't get them when we needed them after getting out of the water. We had to wait for a while. No one had a safety conversation with us about using the fins and snorkel or our comfort in the water and that felt like a dangerous oversight. I did enjoy the extra time we spent at the beach where we had lunch. There were beach chairs and umbrellas, which was nice. Overall, if this is the general level of fish usually, the trips shouldn't be done at all.
Response from the operator: Dear Ayesha Thank you for your detailed feedbacks. First of all, we apologize to you, for that day our Guide did not do a good job which assigned. Maybe she forgot to give the towel and instruct the customer to use the Snorkeling tools. We will review this, and make sure it wont's happen again. Thank you for your understanding about the weather issue. We've taken you to safe, licensed areas for guests to Snorkel. We are not allowed to take guests to other places arbitrarily, hope you understand. Regarding fins, we have many sizes for customers, and unfortunately there is no size that will fit your small feet. We will try to add more sizes for customers.

Not the most impressive snorkling, but beatiful to chill at Cham island
We were transferred to a speedboat trip instead of the wooden boat due to post covid-19 reasons. In the speedboat the guys were driving like crazy. It was funny for the first 2 minutes, but then it just really felt unsafe for the rest of the trip. We were combined with a trip where people were walking the bottom of the sea in suits, and we were snorkling at that location instead. There were not much too see, and it did not feel like a place for snorkling. In the next place we snorkled it was a bit more to see and some nice fishes, but only the fish were colorful, not the sea bottom. Also we could feel some stinging on our skin, not bad, but a little bit uncomfortable. Luckily we were wearing t shirts. After that we went to eat lunch and chill at a beach at Cham island. That location was beautiful and kind of the best part of the trip, but we were expecting more exciting snorkling. The snorkling sessions were also shorter than expected.
Response from the operator: Dear Bad weather a few days previous had made the sea water not as clear as usual. This affected the quality of the tour. We are very sorry about this issue. After we realized that the sea water was not beautiful at your Snorkeling point, we offered free Snorkeling to our guests at the 2nd point. It's a pity that the 2nd Snorkeling point is not as beautiful as you expected. I hope that having lunch and resting at Bai Chong has helped you to have memorable memories. We will try to improve the service to be even better. Thanks so much for your feedback

Professional company that knows what they are doing
Great day out snorkelling at the Cham Islands wirh this company. Very professional and sagety conscious staff who really looked after everyone. Price included hotel transfers to and from port, all equipment, tea, coffee, water and lunch. One of our party needed special assistance getting on and off the boat and this was no problem. This group love their job and it shows! (I would avoid the sppedboat companies at all costs - nasty enclosed boats driven by cowboys).
Response from the operator: Dear Mr/Ms Thank you for choosing Seatrek Vietnam. Your satisfaction is our utmost reward and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

snorkelling was great
the snorkelling was great but way to short. We spend 2 hours sitting on a very crowded beach when we should have been snorkelling for longer..Lunch was good but drinks were hot. Overall it was an average day at best

Snorkelling was a waste
The whole day was unorganised and chaotic. We weren’t provided with any context or clear instructions on what was happening. Feels like we spent half the day waiting for our next transport. We were told a speed boat was coming to take us to another location. 5 minutes later we were told this boat was no longer coming. Beach was polluted, coral seemed mostly dead and there was minimal marine life to see.

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Da Nang.
How much does Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An cost?
+
Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Da Nang usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Da Nang is not rushed.
Is Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Da Nang, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Da Nang can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Da Nang and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cham Islands Snorkeling Tour by Wooden Boat from Hoi An start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Da Nang within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Da Nang?
+
On Outty we rank every Da Nang experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills Small Group Tour, Marble Mountains - Am Phu Cave - Monkey Mountain Sunset tour, Lady Buddha, Marble Mountains, Coconut Jungle & Hoian City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Da Nang?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Da Nang?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
