As we ascend, the landscape transforms. The Patagonian steppe gives way to a lush lenga forest on the southern slope, offering a natural spectacle that changes with each season of the year. The adventure intensifies with an exciting horseback ride through the winding circuits of the hill. From the highest point, Patagonia gives you one of its best panoramic views: To the west, the imposing Centinela Valley and the majestic Torres del Paine, icons of the Chilean National Park; to the north, the mythical Cerro Fitz Roy; Around it, the peninsulas of Magallanes and Avellaneda extend over the crystalline waters of Lake Argentino, whose branches and the legendary Boca del Diablo seem to touch the sky. Located within the lands of Estancia Alice, Cerro Frías is located just 23 km from El Calafate, in the direction of the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. If you are looking for adventure, unforgettable landscapes and connection with nature, Cerro Frías awaits you with open arms

Nice ride to see the beautiful landscape

Booked via Chic Patagonia tours online. Only booked the afternoon before and communication was spot on no issues and a couple of hours before got a WhatsApp confirming pick up again. Friendly transfer service and only 30 mins max from El Calafate town. The small holding was suitably remote for a breathtaking ride in the plateau with the backdrop of the mountains. The professionals who took our tour spoke perfect English and gave us lots of information on the landscape and flora and fauna of the area. We saw lots of hares running and birds soaring along the ride. We rode for about 90 mins in total and had a lovely roaring fire and snacks to greet us when we go back to the station. All in all a great few hours to spend in this stunning landscape. It’s not cheap I paid gbp86 and that was directly with Chic and get your guide is even more expensive over gbp110 so shop around. A lovely pace of ride and recommended if you have a few hours to spare in El Calafate

How much does Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride cost?

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in El Calafate is not rushed.

Is Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in El Calafate, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride?

Is Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride?

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in El Calafate can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in El Calafate and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cerro Frías Experience Horse Ride start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central El Calafate within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in El Calafate?

    +

On Outty we rank every El Calafate experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kayak Full-Day Activity in La Leona River from El Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier with Navigation from El Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier Full Day Tour with Optional Boat Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit El Calafate?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in El Calafate?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
