About this experience
The Sema ceremony represents the mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love and his search for truth and perfection. It is believed that once man has returned from his spiritual journey, he can love and be of service to all creatures surrounding him. Tonight, you have the opportunity to experience an authentic Cappadocian ceremony and witness an ancient Turkish ritual. These abodes were built when trade across Turkey in medieval Seljuk times was dependent on camel trains. The buildings provided accommodation for the merchants and stabling for their animals. Today these ancient structures are the site of The Sema. The ceremony lasts for one hour and during this time your friendly and professional English-speaking guide will talk you through the ceremony and introduce you to Serbet, a traditional religious libation

Expensive and Repetitive - Waste of Money
We wanted to have a local Turkish cultural experience which is why we signed up to go for the dervish ceremony. Tickets are excessively priced and it was an absolute waste of our money. The hotel booked the ceremony for us with a transfer to the ceremony location. When the show started there was music and singing which was great and thereafter, repetitive movement from the dervish dancers. There was no explanation from anyone running the show as to what the importance and significance was behind the movements, the spinning and postures. We were given pamphlets that explained this but this was not enough. We found the show boring as the performers repeated the same chanting and spinning for an hour. A suggestion would be to have a narrator speak in between so that the audience can understand exactly what is going on. Unless this is done, do not waste your money going to this dervish ceremony.

Whirling Dervishes
The Whirling Dervishes was a very solemn and thought provoking show. It was very spiritual and showed traditional Turkish culture.

A must-visit itinerary
The overall trip takes about two hours, which is a very special experience. You are not allowed to eat, drink or take photos during the process, but there will be time for taking photos at the end. The singing and music performance of the ceremony are very impressive. It is very worthwhile to be able to enjoy it so close. One of the must-do itineraries when coming to Cappadocia! !

Beautiful ceremony and good organization
Very good on all points. Very beautiful ceremony, explanations on a brochure in French (quite rare in the region), and best of all, a car came to pick us up in front of the hotel and took us back after the show. Everything is simple and fluid, I really recommend this activity.

+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

+
The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony w/optional hotel transfer?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony w/optional hotel transfer start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Goreme?
+
On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Goreme?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Goreme?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
