    About this experience

The Sema ceremony represents the mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love and his search for truth and perfection. It is believed that once man has returned from his spiritual journey, he can love and be of service to all creatures surrounding him. Tonight, you have the opportunity to experience an authentic Cappadocian ceremony and witness an ancient Turkish ritual. You will be collected from your accommodation in Cappadocia and transported by luxury air-conditioned transport to the caravanserais, (caravan places). These abodes were built when trade across Turkey in medieval Seljuk times was dependent on camel trains. The buildings provided accommodation for the merchants and stabling for their animals. Today these ancient structures are the site of The Sema. The ceremony lasts for one hour and during this time your friendly and professional English-speaking guide will talk you through the ceremony and introduce you to Serbet, a traditional religious libation

    Dancing and tips

There was a combination of folk dancers and a meal. The food wasn’t particularly good - but that was okay. The dancers were good, and that was fun. But the dancers were pushy for extra money, and after the first few tips, reduced our enjoyment

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for your honest feedback! Really glad the dancers made a good impression. We completely understand that persistent requests for tips can take away from the enjoyment and we will address this with the team directly. Hope to welcome you back for a more relaxed experience someday! Kind regards 🧿 Tourmania Team

Very inspiring and interesting activity. Pick-up on time and Ozan made explanation on cultural background. Recommended.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for the kind words! Really glad the pickup was smooth and that Ozan's cultural insights added that extra layer of meaning to the experience. He will be happy to hear this. Hope to welcome you back again someday! Kind regards 🧿 Tourmania Team

    Misleading description

The whirling dervish show is advertised on Viator as being at a caravanserai. However, it is actually in the basement of a hotel. Also, there was a problem with the transportation to the event with the driver, insisting that we had not paid for a hotel pick up. However, the dance itself was very moving and a very interesting cultural experience.

    Smooth experience, good performance

We chose to go by ourselves. The communication came shortly after our reservation and everything was smooth. We ran a bit late to the venue but got in without any issues. The performance (more like a ceremony) was tranquil and sacred. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to experience sema.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you very much for sharing your thoughtful feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that the communication was clear and smooth, and that everything went well even though you arrived a bit late. It’s wonderful to know that you experienced the Whirling Dervishes ceremony as tranquil and sacred, just as it is intended to be. Your recommendation means a lot to us, especially for guests who wish to experience the true essence of sema. We hope to welcome you again for another meaningful cultural experience. Warm regards, The Tourmania Team

Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Goreme.

How much does Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer cost?

    +

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Goreme usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Goreme is not rushed.

Is Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 281 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer?

    +

Around 98 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cappadocia Whirling Dervishes ceremony with Optional Transfer start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Goreme?

    +

On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Goreme?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Goreme?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
