Cappadocia
Lying in south central Turkey, the moonscaped region of Cappadocia, southeast of Ankara, is most famous for unique geological features called fairy chimneys. The large, cone-like formations were created over time by erosion of the relatively soft volcanic ash around them. Past cultures have dug into them to create dwellings, castles (like Uchisar) and even entire underground cities like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu, used as hiding places by early Christians. Nearby Kayseri is the gateway to the area.

Total Disaster
An absolute disaster. A once in a lifetime opportunity was denied to us, as the operator never responded when numerous attempts were made to confirm pick up details. Therefore it deserves 0 stars. All other operators operated with their Hot Air Balloon flights as we observed them from the valley.
Response from the operator: Dear Dieter, we are very sorry for your disappointment. Please note that hot air balloon flights in Cappadocia are strictly regulated by Civil Aviation and depend on daily weather and safety approvals. On some days, certain operators may be cleared while others are not, which can cause differences you observed. We always prioritize guest safety and follow official instructions. We regret the miscommunication and will review our processes to ensure smoother confirmations in the future.

Terrible experience
They cancelled my flight quoting weather for a day when all rides went up. I paid over the normal price but they wanted to get more money. Usually 250 euro. I paid them 350 euro. They cancelled so they could make 450 euro as flights had been cancelled for days. Horrible unethical company. Do not use.
Response from the operator: This review does not reflect a genuine or verified experience with our company. The claims presented are inaccurate and misleading. Our company does not receive or retain any payment for services that are not delivered. In this particular case, no money was taken and no service was provided, as the balloon flight was cancelled due to weather conditions in accordance with strict Civil Aviation safety regulations. All balloon flight operators in Cappadocia are subject to daily government-issued flight permissions, and when flights are cancelled for safety reasons, it is completely beyond the control of any travel agency. Flight cancellations are always decided by the Civil Aviation Authority — not by the company or the balloon pilot. We take all guest concerns seriously and have requested the platform to review and verify this post. Our long-standing reputation, verified by hundreds of satisfied guests, reflects our transparency, ethics, and commitment to guest safety. We kindly invite future travelers to rely on our authentic, verified reviews and not on misleading or false claims. Thank you for your understanding and trust in us.

Why this scores 46
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Goreme.
How much does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers cost?
+
Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Goreme usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Goreme is not rushed.
Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 46 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 83 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers?
+
Around 29 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride with Transfers start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Goreme?
+
On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Goreme?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Goreme?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
