Missing the sunrise and Safety Concerns

The view itself was excellent. However, the pick up was at 06:55 from my place (description says pick up at 05:30) and the sunrise was somewhere around 07:45. So by the time we were in the balloon ready to go, the sun was already far up and we missed the sunrise of course. But the most important thing was safety! The description says a maximum of 20 passengers and we were 30 at least. Not only was the balloon COMPLETELY packed and you couldn't move, but the whole time it felt unsafe too. The typical excuse that other rides were cancelled was used. Classic scam. Go with another company.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the view, and we truly appreciate you raising your concerns, especially regarding timing and safety. Regarding the pickup and take-off time, we would like to kindly clarify that hot air balloon operations are fully regulated by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority. The exact take-off time is determined on the day of the flight based on weather conditions and official flight permissions. For safety reasons, this decision is never made by tour operators or balloon companies themselves. While sunrise times are predictable, actual flight schedules may change to ensure safe conditions. Safety is always our top priority, and flights are only permitted when conditions are deemed suitable by the authorities. On days when flights on previous dates have been canceled due to weather, there can be higher demand, which may result in fuller baskets. However, balloon basket capacities are strictly regulated. Depending on the balloon model, basket capacity can legally vary, typically ranging between 22 and up to 28 passengers, and operators are not permitted to exceed these limits or compromise safety standards. We would also like to assure you that passengers are never intentionally “squeezed” beyond allowed capacity, and all licensed operators are subject to regular inspections and strict safety regulations. That said, we are genuinely sorry if your experience did not fully meet your expectations, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue to improve our service and communication with guests. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.

    Excellent!

Tempel Travel saved our trip to Cappadocia! We had booked a balloon flight directly with one of the large balloon operators in Göreme months in advance, but it was canceled due to weather - and they did not offer us a rebooking opportunity. As soon as we got the cancellation email, I frantically took to Viator to find a flight for a later date, and found this listing. I was anxious because Tempel Travel isn't a balloon operator but a tour company (middle man), but I booked it anyway (there weren't too many options). I am SO GLAD I did. The balloon flight was with Kaya balloons, which is very well-reviewed, and we had a wonderful experience. The pilot made sure to rotate the balloon so everyone could have a good view, and he worked with a ground crew to steer us all around the valley. It was the experience of a lifetime!

    Great experience

The ride was super pleasant. Even though the weather was cloudy that morning we managed to get up to the skies on time. the pilot took pains to get the balloon to a scenic valley which not many went to , which we well appreciated. The snack bag and the toast after were nice touches

Response from the operator: We sincerely thank you for choosing us for your journey through Turkiye and for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor. Your kind words and support mean the world to us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable adventure!

    It was a great experience.

My wife and myself have just finished a wonderful vacation in Turkey. The tour was fantastic and we enjoyed and we visited places which are historically important. All these happened because of the great tour guide we had with us Hasan. He did an excellent job in explaining and took us to the places which are significant in history.. We highly recommend this tour especially if with the same tour guide Hasan.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you and your wife had a fantastic time in Turkey and enjoyed the historical sites. It's great to know that Hasan made your experience even more memorable—he truly is an excellent guide. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

    Once in a lifetime experience

Once in a lifetime experience. Floating through Cappadocia was one of the best experiences I’ve had. It didn’t even feel like we were flying it was like we were sailing through the air. The driver communicated with us and told us what time he was coming and it all flowed excellently So happy I got to experience this and anyone in Cappadocia should put this on their list

Response from the operator: We sincerely thank you for choosing us for your journey through Turkiye and for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor. Your kind words and support mean the world to us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable adventure!

Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Goreme.

How much does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys cost?

    +

Prices start at $299 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Goreme usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Goreme is not rushed.

Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Flight Over The Fairy Chimneys start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Goreme?

    +

On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Goreme?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Goreme?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
