Nice for once, but not quite what we expected.
Driving a Buggy was in itself a fun experience. The guidance was friendly, the transport to the starting location was well arranged. We were picked up at our location at the agreed time. Communication via this site and whats-app went well. Buggies were otherwise of sufficient quality. As for the trip itself, a general point of attention: it is a pity that only public roads are used. The Teide is of course located in a national park, but because buggies are driven, we still had the expectation that part of the route would be off road. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Eventually you drive 25 km on the public road, with stops at different view location and then drive back via almost the same road. Because we had already visited the area around the volcano during an earlier holiday, this was a bit of the same. This part of the route is also easily accessible by a normal car. The guide can provide sufficient information about the area, but is also busy taking photos that are available at the end of the ride for a fee. The tour itself was not cheap, selling photos therefore strongly resembles an extra way of making money. Overall nice experience, but not quite what we possibly expected from it.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re very glad to hear you enjoyed the buggy experience, the organization, and the friendliness of our guides. Regarding the route, it’s important to note that off-road driving is strictly prohibited inside Teide National Park in order to protect the fragile volcanic landscape and ecosystem. For this reason, all tours must follow public roads and designated stops. We fully understand that this may differ from what some guests expect, but we always prioritize safety, legality, and respect for the protected environment. As for the buggy speed, it is intentionally limited for everyone’s safety and comfort while still allowing you to enjoy the unique scenery.

They will scam you so be careful
Absolutely scam. We paid 140 on the day we booked and told we must pay 100 more on the day for tax purposes! Sounds a bit expensive but thought only do it once so why not. When we got there we were promised by the guy who we booked through, a Spanish guy at the top of the steps at the beach in Los americas,an old school beach buggy, was given a loud ass modern buggy, not what was promised. After the excursion I was asked how much it cost by someone on the trip, when I told them they told me they had only paid 140 for 1 buggy with 2 people in it. They had also been promised free food and free alcohol free prosecco, neither of which were provided when they asked for them. I grudgingly paid the 20 euro for a link to the pictures that were taken on the day but the guide and when I tried to gain access to the pictures I was told I had to put my card details in for further payment. I couldn't be more disappointed with the service they provided. I wish I never went with this tour company, complete rip off merchants. Dodge them like the plague
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your review. However, we believe there has been a misunderstanding. You did not make your booking directly with our company or through our official partners such as Tripadvisor/Viator. At our company, the buggy tour price is always €199 per buggy (for 1 or 2 people), and we have never offered a €140 rate nor asked for any extra “tax” payments on the day. It seems you booked with a different seller at the beach, which unfortunately led to this disappointing experience. We always recommend checking carefully that you are booking with the correct company to ensure you receive the experience and service you expect. We are very sorry this happened to you and hope you’ll have the chance in the future to experience the tour with us directly.

Not what is sold and massively overpriced
Absolutely appalled by this experience. Misrepresented and mis-sold. When we purchased it was implied that there would be off-roading (it said so in the description and shows it in the pictures) and the experience would last about 5 hours. However if you read the small print it is 3 hours and the extra two hours includes pick up and drop off. You basically pay nearly 200 euros to drive a buggy ON THE ROAD up to a rest stop at the bottom of the volcano and then back again. Photos cost 20 euros and video costs 10. Not sure why you’d want this as it would just show you driving in convoy with the quad bikes up and down the road holding up traffic. Being an automatic buggy intended for off-road use you will hold up a LOT of traffic and they will try to cut you off in order to overtake as you slowly drop behind doing 50 kph max up hill and 60 kph downhill. Yes they also offer the exact same thing but on quad bikes if you want to torture yourself. There was no off roading at all and the tour guide told us they hadn’t done off road for 3 months. He also advised us to complain and try to get at least 50% refund from these people selling the tour as they keep selling this tour that the people that actually run the tour DO NOT OFFER. After trying to get a partial refund the sellers refuse to acknowledge any kind of fault so we are writing this review to warn others to stay away. Avoid at all costs unless you want to overpay for a what is effectively a 2 hour rental of a buggy that never leaves the tarmac. You’d be much better off in terms of value and experience renting a car or bike and doing it yourself.

Amazing and fun experience!
Valentin has been the best of the bests and one of the most friendly, kind and laid back instructors we ever met. He was super helpful to me and my girlfriend by helping us to enjoy the buggy ride and overall experience. His green buggies are phenomenal and provide an amazing adrenaline feelings. He is highly recommended by us! Many thanks from the UK, Temur and Ewelina

Buggy trip with Javier
This trip was so much fun, starting on the road towards the mountain then totally off road. This trip was 3 hours long stopping half way for refreshments. We had two buggies, two passengers in each and swapped half way. Javier is a really pleasant man and very patient too. He took loads of photos of us all in action. Prepare to get dusty which adds to the fun looking at each others dirty faces. Do not sit on the beach, this trip is a must for one of your days while in Tenerife. I’m not sure who had the most fun, the teens or the parents. Do it!!

Why this scores 43
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.
How much does Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National cost?
+
Prices start at $199 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.
Is Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Buggy Tour Volcano Teide in Teide National start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tenerife?
+
On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tenerife?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tenerife?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
