    Fantastic

A little out of the way Great experience learning a bit more about pearl farming, pearl harvesting and oysters tasting. Very friendly staff. Shelly sent us to Chatswood as it was difficult to get an Uber back. Definitely worth visiting, though renting a car would be advisable.

Response from the operator: Thank you for visiting us! We’re so glad you enjoyed learning more about pearl farming, harvesting and, of course, tasting the oysters. Our riverside location is tucked away down the hill just a little, but that’s part of what makes discovering us and our experiences so special. We’d love to welcome you back, and if you’re travelling without a car, we offer transfers to and from Hawkesbury River Train Station, making it easy to visit us by train from Sydney. Thanks for making the trip and for sharing your experience!

A nice day trip from Sydney for oyster and pearl enthusiasts

This was a nice day trip from Sydney. It was easy to get to the meeting point via train from Sydney Central Station and the driver met us promptly. We learned a lot from the tour. We also liked the interactive nature of the tour. We went out on a boat to see the oyster beds. We saw an oyster being opened with a pearl inside. We saw a demonstration on how to shuck an oyster and got the opportunity to do it ourselves. The oysters in the tasting were delicious. On top of all that, we got to shop for jewelry.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Suzanne! It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed your day trip from Sydney and the whole experience, from heading out on the Hawkesbury River to seeing a pearl revealed and having a go at shucking your own oyster. We love making our tours interactive and sharing our passion for oysters and pearls with our guests. Thank you for visiting us and for taking the time to share your experience.

    Fabulous Experience

What a beautiful way to spend a Sunday in Winter. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed very warmly by all the staff. We were very impressed with the smooth operation of the tour. It was the perfect amount of time with information sharing - loved the hands on experience and it was great that the young children were involved in choosing the oyster that we opened. The boat trip was so good and our guide had a great way of explaining information and she was genuinely concerned about our comfort as we headed back in strong winds. She had blankets & wind jackets at the ready. And we finished off with oyster tasting /- delicious and great to taste pearl meat. A special thank you to the team who were very helpful with our request for some “used” oyster shells - for our daughters hens day. They look fabulous. Thank you so much Broken Bay Pearl and Oyster Farm.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It means so much to our team to hear that you had such an enjoyable winter visit with us. We're delighted you felt warmly welcomed from the moment you arrived and great to hear our skipper kept everyone comfortable on the return journey despite the windy conditions. Having blankets and jackets on hand is all part of ensuring our guests have the best possible experience, whatever the weather. Our oyster tasting is always a highlight, especially the opportunity to sample a variety of oysters, including our delicious local pearl oyster. We're so pleased we could also help with the oyster shell name cards for your daughter's hens celebration. We'd love to see how they looked in the final setup! Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing to spend your Sunday with us. We hope to welcome you and your family back to Broken Bay Pearl Farm again soon.

Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours cost?

    +

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 164 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours?

    +

Around 57 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
