2. The next stop will be at the Plaza de Botero, a fascinating open-air exhibition of bronze sculptures, designed as a renovation program for the area in 2004. They were placed there intentionally for people to interact with Botero’s art.

    3. Parque San Antonio

Finally, you’ll go to San Antonio Park where you will get the chance to see the Pájaro de Paz (the Bird of Peace) a sculpture blown up by the FARC in 1995, killing many innocent people. Botero then donated an exact undamaged bronze replica of the bird but insisted that the exploded statue remained at the plaza as a memorial statue with the names of the victims carved on its base. As soon as you finish at San Antonio Park, the guide can help you sort out transportation back to your hotel, to your next destination, or to a recommended place to take lunch nearby.

    The tour guide arrived...

The tour guide arrived 1:30 minutes late due to an accident. When she finally arrived she started the tour by telling us the story of her family and her own. That was interesting for a while because we received an insight of what happened in that area. Sadly she was not an expert in Botero, which was the main reason we were there. Luckily, we received som explanations from an employee of the museum. We would have liked it better if the tour guide was as much in love with Botero as we are!

Response from the operator: Yes, Juanita really had an accident on her bike when she was on the way to the tour, however she told us that she informed you in time and these situations are difficult to prevent, thanks to your comment we are doing training on Botero with all our guides, I share your love for him and it is really fascinating all hir world and work.

This trip and our guide was...

This trip and our guide was extremely informative. We walked through downtown Medellin across to Botero plaza and the museum, seeing and learning about things along the way. One thing worth noting is that this is not an art tour. We thought it would be Botero-specific, but while we did learn a LOT about Medellin and throroughly enjoyed our trip, once we got to the museum our guide did not know much about art and Botero's career. Still an amazing tour, but it might be worth updating the description or name perhaps Medellin walking tour including museum visit.

The tour was very interesting, especially enjoyed Plaza Botero where many of Botero's sculputure are. Museo de Antioquia is very worth the visit and you can enjoy more of Botero's work.

Fernando Botero, arguably one of South America's best artists, has a heavy influence on the city of Medellin. Traveling to Medellin, I wanted to learn more about Botero, his life and his work. This tour was exactly that - small-group, personalized and with a very knowledgeable guide. The museum is well worth the visit and consists of three floors full of artwork. Overall, a great and relaxing day out.

How much does Botero Walking Tour: experiencing Medellin through the eyes of an artist cost?

    +

Prices start at $124 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Medellín usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Botero Walking Tour: experiencing Medellin through the eyes of an artist take?

Is Botero Walking Tour: experiencing Medellin through the eyes of an artist worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Medellín, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Botero Walking Tour: experiencing Medellin through the eyes of an artist?

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Botero Walking Tour: experiencing Medellin through the eyes of an artist suitable for kids and families?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Medellín can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Medellín and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Medellín?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Medellín?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Medellín?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
