Late cancellation by provider, could not supply a guide in the local language!
Well, it’s a strange one this. I booked and paid for my guided tour in Bordeaux, France, easily enough on Tripadvisor. On the day before the tour I got a message from management saying they had trouble finding a French speaking guide for me, as requested. Indeed, trouble finding a guide who speaks French in France. Finally, they had a guide for me who reached out. The guide was probably Indian and said he’d prefer to guide me in English. I insisted on French as decided at booking and he agreed. Yet, later that night management notified me that the guide had had doubts and now wasn’t reachable for final confirmation. As management again could not confirm a guide for the morning after, the booking was cancelled and I’m now waiting for my reimbursement. Management did clearly make an effort and kept me in the loop doing so and for this they have my respect. Yet, I wonder about their business model; do they rely on students and foreign workers for the service they provide? In their PR they claim to supply native or at least long-time on-site guides if not specifically trained in the local history and culture, which to me would be fine if they at least know the city well.. and of course the local language. I was not told why they couldn’t deliver a guide. Maybe the perfect guide suddenly got sick and chance conspired against this company but I would have expected some redundancy. Now, a review should normally be based on a delivered service and I had none. However, a no-delivery could be considered the worst outcome. Results are important, but for the efforts of the management I’ll be generous and give a 2. For you who consider this service provider, reliability might be an issue.
Response from the operator: Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how disappointing it is when a planned experience cannot be delivered, and we sincerely regret that this was the outcome of your booking. While this was a rare situation, we acknowledge that we fell short of expectations and that reliability is essential. Our Lokafyers are locals who call the city home; whether born there or long-time residents and are selected based on local knowledge and language ability, not nationality. In this case, unforeseen last-minute availability issues prevented us from confirming a suitable French-speaking host in time- our team was really dedicated to ensuring that this was not the case. Nonetheless, we appreciate your recognition of the team’s efforts to keep you informed and will be using your feedback to strengthen our backup processes moving forward. Thank you.

Fantastic way to see beautiful Bordeaux
Fantastic way to see beautiful Bordeaux. Our guide Elias was professional from the start, emailing prior to tour to find out our interests etc. He arrived early and so we started our tour. His English was great. He showed us and explained the history along the way. When it rained, he gave us the option of 2-3 different things we could do. Elias was so professional and friendly. We loved every minute of our tour and would highly recommend this tour anyone who wants to get a feel for the city.

Merci Beaucoup Barb!!
Barb gave us a wonderful tour of Bordeaux. She made sure to take us to beautiful places for pictures, and show us the highlights of the city. Barb went above and beyond to message me on What's App to be sure we made it to town without issue. She was so kind to give us tram instructions, restaurant recommendations, and things we could see with the hours we had at our 4pm arrival. She truly cares about her customers and was an absolute pleasure.

Excellent walking tour with Pascale
Excellent and enjoyable 2-hour Bordeaux walking tour with Pascale. She engagingly took us through the city’s history from the Romans to the present day. We highly recommend this tour! There was some scheduling confusion about an included wine tasting. The wine bar where it was supposed to take place kindly went out of their way to do it the next day. It was well worth the wait--many thanks to Ash.

Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bordeaux.
How much does Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local cost?
+
Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bordeaux usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bordeaux is not rushed.
Is Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bordeaux, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bordeaux can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bordeaux and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Bordeaux Private Walking Tour with a Local start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bordeaux within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bordeaux?
+
On Outty we rank every Bordeaux experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Saint-Emilion Electric Bike Day Tour with Wine Tastings & Lunch, Saint-Émilion Afternoon Tour - 2 Grand crus & French apéritif, Graves & Saint-Emilion Wine Tour | 3 Châteaux & Gourmet Picnic. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bordeaux?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bordeaux?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
