The Painted Ladies are known worldwide from photos, guidebooks, film and TV shows such as "Full House". For locals, they are a cherished symbol of our city and our history. These are all private homes and are rarely open for viewing. The blue painted lady is one of the most original and preserved of the seven homes in this row. The interior reflects almost 174 years of this family's history in the city. It is not a recreation of an 1890s home, nor is it the tour meant as an inspiration for home décor or design. We hope guests find the period furnishings and paintings harmonious and the stories engaging.

You need to see the inside to appreciate the pink lady
Just looking outside is not enough. Going through the house is enlightening and impressive. I’ve been here so many times times and it was my first to see the inside. I recommend it to everyone. It will bring you back to the glory days of those days. George is full of enthusiasm

Once in a life time chance
George is the best! Great tour don’t miss this opportunity.

George is fantastic! He...
George is fantastic! He shares so much history about the Painted Ladies, the Blue Painted Lady, the neighborhood, the city, and his and his family's own history with the city and the house. He is a great story teller and by the end you feel like you may actually be friends with him! My 12 year old and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned so much! Be aware for the younger friends: it's a solid stretch of time being quiet, still, and needing to be bodily aware and careful of fragile surroundings.

Unique Painted Lady Experience
The owner of the house is very friendly and full of fun stories about the house itself and his experiences being an owner of it. I definitely recommend this tour, especially if you love Victorian homes.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner?
+
Included: Most of the top 3 floors of the blue painted lady are shown. Not included: There is a small part of the home that is private to the family only. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
What languages is Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.
Is Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner wheelchair or stroller accessible?
+
The operator notes: Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.
What happens to Blue Painted Lady House Tour - Interior Guided Tour by Owner if the weather is bad?
+
