What you'll see and do

  1. Rose Hall Great House

This Rose Hall Great House is an early 18th century plantation home that sits on a high elevation on thousands of acres in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The Rose Hall Great House was once owned by the famous and certainly one of the wickedest plantation owners to walk the land of Jamaica, Annie Palmer. She owned hundreds of slaves. This house became haunted after her gruesome death in 1831. The house is scary to look at even in the daytime. There is no stop at the Rose all Great House on your way to Negril however, your tour guide will tell you the history and slow down so that you can take photos.

  2. Greenwood Great House

The Greenwood Great House (Plantation home) was constructed in the early 18th Century. Like most, if not all the other Great Houses in Jamaica, the Greenwood Great House was built at high elevation. One could say that this was a strategy used back in the plantation era as a means of overlooking the plantation and also for security purposes. This house, unlike the Rose Hall Great House, is not haunted but of a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The history and the architecture of the house is what will blow you away. As you pass by, feel free to take photos when your tour guide slows down.

  3. Columbus Park

The town of Discovery Bay is where you will find Columbus Park. It was originally named Puerto Seco “Dry Harbour” by Christopher Columbus in 1494 when he and his men landed on the Island. It is said that could not find fresh water to drink. They later found fresh water in another area about 5 miles west of the town. The water was so good that they named the location where it was found Rio Bueno (“Good River”). However, the town of Puerto Seco was later renamed in 1947 to Discovery Bay because Discovery Bay is where the Spanish, lead by Christopher Columbus landed when they invaded the Island on May 4, 1494. There is a park with several old relics and artifacts on display (Park temporarily closed for renovations). There will be a brief stop to take photos and capture the rich history of this historic town.

  4. This tour takes you through one of the most popular towns on the Island. Runaway Bay is naturally beautiful and is certainly one of the most scenic areas in Jamaica. It sits between the beautiful, crisp coastline to one side and the lush green mountains to the other. There is much debate as to how the town of Runaway Bay got its name. some people believe it got the name because that is where the last batch of Spanish soldiers ran away from when they were retreating from the attacking British Troops lead by Governor Ysassi right after the 1655 British invasion of Jamaica, while other argue that it was the point from which the Slaves from inland plantations used as an escape route to runaway to Cuba. Get your cameras ready to go as you make your way through this area.

  5. Dunn's River Falls and Park

A rare experience awaits you at the world famous Dunns River Falls where you climb the falls in a human chain led by experienced Falls Guides. There are pools along the way where you will stop for photo shoots and frolicking. Allow the cascades to hug you while you make your way up. Pause at the 'massage parlour' and experience the soothing effects of the water as it cascades to the sea. There are exit points along the way if you want to quit – If you do, meet up with the rest of your group at the finish. For the less brave - live vicariously. 6. Ocho Rios

The heartbeat of the garden parish of St. Ann, the resort area of Ocho Rios is the nature lover’s paradise. As previously thought to be watered by eight rivers (as its name suggests) Ocho Rios provides a lush landscape of caves, gardens, rivers and white sand beaches. The name Ocho Rios actually derives from “Las Choreras” meaning “waterfalls” and may be a reflection of the many waterfalls in the area. From the Fern Gully located in the remains of an old river bed to the tiered waterfalls of Dunn’s River, Blue Hole and the Secret Falls, arguably, Jamaica’s most popular attractions, Ocho Rios draws thousands of visitors back to arguably the island’s most romantic, picturesque resort area.

Awesome time! Amazing...

Awesome time! Amazing transport crew. No matter what they will make sure you get back where you need to go! Kirk and Marcel were amazing! Bus driver made the experience fun and all of the tour guides they put us with at the falls were amazing. Just make sure to bring some cash!

Awful

We visited as a part of Virgin Cruise excursion, to say that it was awful is an understatement. Do not use tour guides for this, they couldn’t care less about your experience, its about upselling

Great trip for all!

We travelled from Lucea with a pickup time of 07:30, and got back to our hotel around 19:00 - a full day! Our driver Copley was friendly, knowledgeable and made the 12 hour day enjoyable! Blue Hole was fantastic, with lots of jumping from waterfalls, swinging off a rope swing into the water below, and more relaxed swimming in the glorious blue water. Lunch followed this, with options such as jerk chicken, oxtail, chicken nuggets - all at around $19 per person and ordered during the drive to blue hole. After lunch, a short drive to dunn’s falls. This has more of a ‘theme park’ setup, with some small children’s slides, beach and stalls to purchase from. However the falls themselves are glorious, and participants of all shapes, sizes, ages and ability levels were able to traverse up the falls. There are a few hairy moments, but groups typically look after one another very well, and there are exit points at various stages up the falls if you’ve had enough. On the drive to/from Ocho Rios, Copely gave us some insights into Jamaica as an island, the parishes we were passing through, and some tips as to how to enjoy each of our stops. He was excellent!

Had a great time on this...

Had a great time on this tour, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and took such great care of us. It was a long drive from Lucea but the ride is comfortable and you stop to stretch your legs and eat lunch. The activities were great, all the staff were friendly, kind and looked after us the entire time. The locations were not overly crowded on the day we went and were stunning! would definitely recommend.

How much does Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium cost?

How long does Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lucea is not rushed.

Is Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lucea, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium suitable for kids and families?

How far in advance should I book Blue Hole plus Secret Falls & Dunn's River Falls from Grand Palladium?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lucea can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lucea and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lucea within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lucea?

+

On Outty we rank every Lucea experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Negril Tour – Beach, Local Stops, Shopping & Rick’s Café, Explore Montego Bay Jamaica to Negril Beach & Ricks Cafe Sunset, Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lucea?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lucea?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
