What you'll see and do
Black River
Situated on the South coast of Jamaica in the Parish of St Elizabeth, the Black River Safari is significant to the overall balance of the country’s eco-system. A tour on this nature lovers paradise will take you three miles up the river and back. The natural beauty of the milieu will mystify the mind like never before. The over 100 species of beautifully plumed birds that made the Black River Safari home will always seems to bring one’s mind closer to how great creation is. However, perhaps the most famous residence of the Black River Safari are the endangered crocodiles.

YS Falls
The YS Falls are 120 foot tall and cascade over seven levels. Steps have been built up the side of the falls so visitors can view the falls without getting wet. If you'd prefer a more interactive experience there are natural pools at the bottom of each level of the falls, lifeguards on the site will let you know which pools are safe to swim in. One pool features a rope swing where you can swing "tarzan-style" in to the water below. For a more relaxing swim there is also a 4 foot deep pool at the bottom of the falls which is fed by natural springs.

Enjoyable excursion
Enjoyed both experiences. The falls were beautiful, less touristy. The boat tour allowed us to see the crocodiles and learn a bit of history.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed both the falls and the boat tour. It’s great to know you appreciated the beauty and tranquility of the falls, as well as the opportunity to see crocodiles and learn some history on the boat tour. Fun day on private tour!
We had a great time. Our driver picked us pick right on time. He safely drove us 1st to the Black River Safari where we enjoyed the boat tour. Next we went to YS falls. That was the best!! We had our own guide who took us up the falls. Nice guy guided just the 4 of us up the falls. He carried my phone and took alot of pictures of along the way. Not as touristy as Dunn River Falls. I highly recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Thrilled to hear you had a great time on the tour! It's fantastic that your driver was punctual and ensured a safe journey. The personalized experience at YS Falls with a dedicated guide and fewer crowds sounds wonderful. Thank you for recommending this unique tour!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Black River Safari and YS Water Falls: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Negril.
How much does Black River Safari and YS Water Falls cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Negril usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Black River Safari and YS Water Falls take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Negril is not rushed.
Is Black River Safari and YS Water Falls worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Negril, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Black River Safari and YS Water Falls?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Black River Safari and YS Water Falls suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Black River Safari and YS Water Falls?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Negril can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Negril and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Black River Safari and YS Water Falls start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Negril within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Negril?
+
On Outty we rank every Negril experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Transportation and Tour from Montego Bay to Blue Hole/Secret Falls, Negril Glass Bottom Boat Tour Snorkeling and Booby Cay, ATV, Bamboo Rafting and Negril Ricks Cafe from Montego Bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Negril?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Negril?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
