YS falls and Black River
Great tour. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. 5 stars. There is still quite a bit if hurricane damage and the tour areas down south have not quite fully recovered. The waterfalls were pretty rough and the water was brown due to recent heavy rain. Still, the Jamaican people are wonderful and we had a great time. We were able to stop for a local lunch which was a huge highlight, and seeing the really large crocodiles in the Black river was amazing. Great family trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review and for choosing to tour with us! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience. We hope to welcome you and your family back again next time.

Stay was OK - not five stars
this tour was worth it, only saw 2 crocodiles, rum factory was interesting but long dragged out tour. WARNING: Private tour there, however the roads are in such a bad state with hundreds of potholes and not a pleasant drive, even the driver was frustrated on the 2 hour journey there and two half hour back on very narrow roads with passing dangerous as all vehicles try to avoid pot holes. We got tossed around in vehicle, would never do this tour again. Jamaica should be ashamed to offer it when roads are in such a bad state.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you found parts of the tour, such as the rum factory, interesting, but we’re sorry to hear about your experience with the roads and overall journey. Unfortunately, the state of the roads is something beyond our control, but we understand how it affected your experience, and we deeply regret the discomfort it caused. We hope you’ll give Jamaica another chance in the future, and we are more than willing to assist you in finding tours that may better suit your preferences.

Black River Safar
Black River Safari was a disappointment due to the rain. We understand things can happen but they knew when we paid it was going to rain as our driver mentioned that as soon as we got on the boat. Within minutes it poured, thunderstorms and lightning . We all got soaked.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us regarding your visit to the Black River Safari. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you faced due to the unexpected rain and adverse weather conditions. We understand your frustration, and we truly sympathize with your situation. Weather can be unpredictable, and we regret that it affected your tour despite your driver’s prior mention of the possibility of rain. We take weather forecasts seriously and aim to prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will review our communication and safety protocols to ensure a more seamless experience for our future visitors, especially during adverse weather conditions. Please feel free to reach out if you decide to return, and we will do our best to make your next experience a pleasant one. Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your feedback.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Negril.
How much does Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate cost?
+
Prices start at $138 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Negril usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Negril is not rushed.
Is Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Negril, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Negril can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Negril and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Black River Safari, YS Falls and Appleton Estate start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Negril within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Negril?
+
On Outty we rank every Negril experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Transportation and Tour from Montego Bay to Blue Hole/Secret Falls, Negril Glass Bottom Boat Tour Snorkeling and Booby Cay, ATV, Bamboo Rafting and Negril Ricks Cafe from Montego Bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Negril?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Negril?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
