    Fun time around the islands

Great option for getting around to see some sights. Be ready for some hills! We needed to walk our bike up some of the steep ones. Make sure you are ready to ride on the road.

Response from the operator: Thanks for reviewing our bike rentals. We do have some gentle rolling hills to get into New Castle, but aside from that, we are at sea level 🙂 If and when you return, take our Islands and Harbor tour that is lead by a guide and designed to be an easy-paced tour with mostly flat terrain. There are a few gentle inclines (15% incline for 100 feet) and several stops along the way, to explore historic sites.

Great but not ideal for inexperienced bikers

Tour guide is very knowledgeable and very safety minded. There will be stops for the guide to speak along the way. I recommend being somewhat comfortable with a 7-speed bike especially if you are older like me! A guide gives helpful tips for using a bike and navigating. There are some gentle inclines on the trip as well as some points at which you are riding adjacent to traffic or across intersectionswhich could be challenging for some people not used to biking. The tour guide adapted for our situation and it still turned out great.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the review and providing your recommendations. As the tour description states, our guests must know how to ride a multi-speed bike and know how to navigate through streets and along trails. Unfortunately, we cannot teach our guests how to ride a bicycle especially when we have other guests on the tour. We would like to extend an apology and invite you back for a private tour that's a more go-with-the-flow type tour. Thanks again for taking the time to write a review.

Independent bike tour of Portsmouth and New Castle, NH

Had an amazing time renting bikes for 3 hours and exploring Portsmouth and New Castle, NH. The bike store provided a couple of 7-speed hybrid bikes with helmets that worked great! The bike shop provided us with a map of places to see and a bike lock. We had such a great time! Highly Recommend it!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review! We are happy that you enjoyed the tour!

How to enjoy the scenery in your own time

22 mile route to Rye Harbour, easy to follow, lots to see in perfect weather. Cars were courteous, roads relatively quiet. Helmets, gilets were supplied.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review! We’re happy and grateful to you for renting a bike! Thanks again

    Best bike tour ever

The best bike tour ever!! It was self-guided, but the worker gave us the rundown and provided us with a map and many resources. It was absolutely beautiful. The route took us through different islands and along the Oceanside. In New Hampshire, there is a bike law that cars need to give at least 3 feet! So with that law, our bright yellow vests, and helmets we felt very safe. The bikes were phenomenal. My friend and I who aren’t avid bikers ended up doing 23 miles in 3 hours… which we have never done before! Going to look to invest in the bikes the provided to have at home. Would highly recommend!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to provide us a review! We’re happy and grateful that you rented with us! Thanks again.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Portsmouth.

How much does Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental) cost?

    +

Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Portsmouth usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental) take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Portsmouth is not rushed.

Is Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Portsmouth, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental)?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Portsmouth can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Portsmouth and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Bike and eBike Rentals: 7-Speed Bicycles + Ebikes (3-hr Rental) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Portsmouth within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Portsmouth?

    +

Portsmouth, NH packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Portsmouth by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Portsmouth experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Islands & Harbor Tour- Sightseeing, Storytelling & Must See Sites, Historical Tastings at the Iconic Rockingham, Self Guided Haunted Walking Tour in Portsmouth APP/GPS/EMF Reader. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Portsmouth?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Portsmouth, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Portsmouth?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
