    Go on this tour!

This tour is amazing! Shelby, Marco, and DeVante are the best tour guides. We had so much fun from start to finish. They were extremely informed and taught us so much about all the wildlife we saw. The zodiac boat was so epic and felt so great to just be out on the water.

Response from the operator: Sounds the a pelagic success! For the captains this tour is a little break from the norm, we get to go out a little on our snorkel tours but on a pelagic the offshore has no restrictions. We get to spend our whole time out in the blue looking for marine mammals and sea birds. Its just a nice tour for captains and guests, that want to get off shore to find things. Thank you for enjoying it as much as we do.

    Awesome upclose whale experience

Our trip was awesome..".B" our captain was delightful. We had the privilegde of spending about 15 minutes with a pod of 4-5 beaked cuviet whales. It is a rare sighting, the best she ir anyone else on the raft had ever seen. They.came right up to zodiac to check us out..so close we could have touched them. Absolutely amazing. The rest of the tour was interesting and informative. It was obvious that there was every cobcern for our safety and enjoyment. Hoghtly recommended!

Response from the operator: What a special sighting that day! Mahalo for taking the time to shout out Captain B and write about your time on the water. Our Pelagic tour is a great way to learn about all kinds of animals that rely on the ocean, from whales and dolphins to sea birds.

    No refund given after cancellation

Had a cancelation through phone message and email way before 48 hrs that is necessary and they will not refund me even with proof that this was done before the 48hrs that is in their policy. very dishonest.

Response from the operator: We appreciate you emailing us regarding your refund and were happy to work with you on it. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy in place, but we understand the unexpected happens (whether it be travel changes, illness, injury or other medical reasons) and this can prevent plans from happening. We simply ask that the proper notice or documentation be given to receive a refund. Again, mahalo for reaching out about this matter. Very glad that we could work together to get it resolved. CZ

    A life time experience

Colin and Holly were just wonderful. I did not expect to see hundreds of melon headed whales and Fraser's dolphins. Mother nature showed up graciously and with glory. Words cannot express this awesome experience. Colin and Holly are great souls and cannot express my gratitude to you. You are the true guardians of our planet . They showed immense respect to these wonderful creatures and the dolphins followed our boat for quite a distance all around us !!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for coming out with us! Your experience sounds like an amazing one! We are lucky to have a boss and Captain like Colin who cares so much about respecting our wildlife here in Hawaii. Holly showed us the videos from that day, and they are truly remarkable. We gave her your email so hopefully you've received them as well! We hope you see you next time, Mahalo!

Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.

How much does Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion cost?

    +

Prices start at $153 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.

Is Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Big Island: Marine Wildlife Excursion start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
