    This was a great addition...

This was a great addition to our already planned drive of the north coast. The guide took us to places that we would have missed navigating ourselves. There was also lots of great information shared throughout the entire drive about the areas we traveled. We definitely recommend this guided tour if you want to travel the north coast.

Incredible tour of The Big Island

What a great tour. Able to do at our own pace, doing the things we wanted to do the way we wanted to do them. All the great scenic views and learned so much history and meaning along the way! Absolutely the best! By far the best tour we have ever done and the price is incedible. Narator was perfect. Highly recommend!

    Expected more.

We expected more from the app, our friends raved about it. We downloaded the app as we were leaving Kona for Hilo. When it finally downloaded, we were on Saddle Rd. We git very little info about the area, a little blurb about military base. It did get us to Hilo, then informed us our tour was complete. We were on the outskirts of Hilo, that's it. No tour of Hilo, no nothing. We ended up using Google maps. Our friends got a whole tour of Hilo, we got nothing except, your tour is complete. I contacted Shaka tour and was told I would receive a refund after I sent them a copy of the receipt. I have done so twice. I have never heard from Shaka. I can not recommend thus company. They do not stand behind the product.

Response from the operator: Sorry to hear about your experience that definitely shouldn’t have happened. Regarding your refund, could you kindly confirm the email address and receipt details once more? We want to make sure this gets resolved for you as quickly as possible.

Many sights to see-take 2 days!

Despite some tech issues on our part (though not so clear in instructions), we finally figured out how to use the audio tour accurately & see some major & off-the-beaten-path Hawai’i sites.

Response from the operator: Mahalo for your review! Don't forget to tell all your friends about it and follow us on social media @shakaguide to share your Shaka Guide experience 🤙😍🤙

    Love Shaka Guides

This was a great time! I have done many of these tours and they do save alot of money if you are willing to drive yourself. The car ride is entertaining with stories and directions. They are easy to follow and give all the info for each stop. Download the app. You will also find more on there.

Response from the operator: We're delighted to receive your positive feedback! Our team works hard to create the best user experience possible, and it's always gratifying to see that our efforts are paying off.

Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.

How much does Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.

Is Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Big Island North Island Jungle Adventure - Self-Guided Audio Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
