The biggest disappointment of our South African holiday!
This safari through Addo Elephant National Park, booked months earlier and discussed with the organizer in advance, was to be the highlight of our cruise. Only about a day before the start we were informed by the booking platform that Nama Tours had cancelled the tour. We did not receive a personal message. When asked by Jonathan, he wrote to us that the company had financial problems, but he would still try to do the tour anyway. He begged for patience, but we never heard from him again. Although we received our payment back from the booking platform, this of course does not compensate in any way for the lost experience and stress or even the communication costs to find a solution at night on the ocean. Therefore, we can currently be contacted before the provider "Nama Tours (pty) ltd" or "Nama Tours tours" in South Africa only warn.
Response from the operator: Hi I'm sorry to hear about this First you did not book via this platform We have a right to cancel a tour in advance as we did in order to give you a chance to book with someone else We try to find alternative company to take over from us but they were all more expensive then us

The guide was overwhelmed with his task
The park was beautiful to look at. Animals allowed beautiful souvenir photos. The snacks and drinks listed in the program - misrepresentation. The guide has drinks and snacks for himself. Lions unfortunately not seen. But many other animals in the extensive park. Was thus still a pleasant tour
Response from the operator: Hi Vielen Dank für die Bewertung. Wir freuen uns zu hören, dass es angenehm war Können Sie bitte das Datum angeben, um zu sehen, warum es seitdem keine Snacks und Getränke mehr gab? Auf unseren Touren gibt es immer Getränke und Snacks

Jonathon was fantastic...
Jonathon was fantastic and I would recommend him highly. He always answered my question promptly when I communicated with him before the trip. He was prompt on time waiting for us at the cruise ship dock. Before going into the park we stopped and got drinks and food for lunch and he picked up that tab. Once in the Addo park he never rushed us and has an eye for spotting the animals. We saw many Elephants, zebras, Kudu’s, a lion and warthogs. He had us back to the ship on time as promised by him! I can’t say enough nice things about Jonathon not knowing what to expect he was a 5 star!!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much I'm very happy to hear this our aim is to give you the most memorable experience

Top tier
We highly recommend Namatours. Their customer service is second to none. The guided tour was outstanding, exceeding our expectations. We were completely impressed with their professionalism and care for us all. Thank you to Jonathan, our driver guide. We really appreciate your hard work and effort giving us insight about the animals and the conservation itself. May you go from strength to strength.

Nama Tours 👌
Once again, many thanks for making such a trip possible. The organisation, the effectiveness, the planning and on top the driver you Jonathan were just perfect. We felt so comfortable although being so far and deep in the wild. Everything worked out in time and perfectly; the driver never had to look long for the animals as he knows where and at what time to go there. We felt very safe and were treated like royals or VIPs. The car was very clean, washed and the fresh water that was placed under our seats was very much appreciated from our side. We will definitely recommend your Nama Tours as well as you our driver to our friends who are also planning trips to Addo and surroundings. Once more, many thanks for all of the above mentioned but also for the gifts and the perfect service at the arrival point. Kind regards From a very happy April family.

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Port Elizabeth.
How much does Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth cost?
+
Prices start at $218 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Port Elizabeth usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Port Elizabeth is not rushed.
Is Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Port Elizabeth, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Port Elizabeth can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Port Elizabeth and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Big 5 Tour from Port Elizabeth start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Port Elizabeth within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Port Elizabeth?
+
On Outty we rank every Port Elizabeth experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale, Dolphin & Penguin Island Cruise, Addo Elephant Full Day Safari with a Traditional South African Braai (BBQ) Lunch, Addo Elephant National Park All Inclusive Full-Day Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Port Elizabeth?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Port Elizabeth?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
