Fun trip, great guide, but 2 nights in the Desert was one too many

The good: Our guide Mohammed who goes by Mo’wgli was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, caring and overall just fun to hang out with. This was important because a private tour is just your party with the guide who completes the entire trip in the same vehicle throughout. The destinations were chosen well and helped us see more sights than we would have on our own. The pace was good, never felt rushed or dull. Almost every place we stayed at was perfect. The hosts were sweet and the locations were beautiful. Every place accommodated a vegetarian diet. Click excursions was flexible to slight changes in the planned itinerary. They also agreed to change the dropoff to Essaouira, for a fee (this was essentially what we would have paid for the trip from Marrakesh to Essaouira, so it saved us time and transfer). The not so good: The first camel ride into the desert took a route that was always in sight of a well traveled road. The camp was accessible by car and it did not really feel like being in the desert. Underwhelming but technically next to dunes you could climb for both sunrise and sunset views. The camp itself was clean and comfortable with welcoming hosts and good food The second night in Merzouga felt like the real “Sahara” and it would probably have been sufficient by itself for the desert experience. Unfortunately this camp ran out of water in the evening, but otherwise was unique and beautiful. The water issue was fixed by the morning so it wasn’t a big deal and might have been an anomaly. Tip: Both desert camps involved camel rides to and from the camp, but the luggage was transported by other means and delivered to the camp. Packing a bag for just the camp stays and leaving all our other belongings in the car with the guide worked out for us. Just be aware that the camps’ photos are framed to make them look better than they are in reality. This is not a complaint - Obviously promotional materials are created to flatter the subject. You don’t need to engage a local guide for Ait Ben Haddou. It’s charming and a great example of original dwellings but it is mostly shops now, with every shop listing all the movies that have been filmed in the location, which was funny.

Unique experience!

I loved our trip to Morocco! At first I was a bit nervous because I didn't know what not to expect. Thanks to our guide Imad, everything went like clockwork! We saw sooo much: we started in Marrakech towards Zagoura, where we stayed in a camp and made a trip on camels for the first time :) after that we went on to Merzouga in the Sahara, here we were allowed to ride camels again and also quad bike, which was so fun! Afterwards we went out of the desert to Dades, the environment was very impressive. In the end we went to Ouarzazate, where we spent a wonderful last evening. All that remains is to say: THANKS A THOUSAND IMAD! Thank you for taking us everywhere safely, thank you for always being open eared and always willing to help. Thank you for your funny and loving way, you made the trip unique for me! 😊

Response from the operator: Hallo, Danke für deinen lieben Kommentar, Wir freuen uns, dass Sie mit unserer Agentur Click Excursions und unserem Team gute Erfahrungen gemacht haben. Wir hoffen, Sie bald wieder zu sehen. Prost, Click Excursions Team

Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech cost?

+

Prices start at $291 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Best of Moroccan Sahara: 5-Day Guided Tour from Marrakech start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
