Getting to Know Detroit.
This was a great tour. Our guide, Kacie, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We saw a lot of the arts and architecture in the Detroit area, as well as some of the history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour.

Awesome tour of Detroit!
My husband and I were in Dearborn for the start of a tour and we arrived a day early so we could go into Detroit to see the City. We booked a walking tour with Kacie as our guide. She was very knowledgeable and shared so much of Detroit’s history and resurgence. Loved the tour and the City and this tour is a great way to see the City! Highly recommended!

Kacie's walking tour was enjoyable, informative and created a great memory!
Lovely guide, Kacie walked us thru downtown Detroit providing us with in depth knowledge of each building and the history of Detroit. At least a 2 mile walk in beautiful weather made for a wonderful day in Detroit. Thanks TripAdvisor for this memorable day!

Best tour of Detroit!!
Kinza gave me the best tour of Detroit anyone could ask for! She shared fascinating historical information along with some fun side stories that really brought the city to life. She also gave me some of the best restaurant recommendations around the city. There’s no doubt that Kinza gives the best tours in Detroit and will leave you feeling like you have a genuine understanding of just how awesome the city truly is!

Good but not exciting tour
A somewhat interesting tour, although the Guardian building (shown in the listing) is the only one that was particularly interesting. Guide was knowledgeable, and when she didn't know, said so (a couple times leading her to Google something for me). Total tour time was 90 minutes, so this was a particularly pricey tour compared to other walking tours I've done in other cities.
Response from the operator: tours in other cities can cost less due to volume, here in Detroit I do not have that advantage I have to charge what I charge in order to show up for 1 person which I have done on many many occasions. You will remember that I was the only tour guide that was out running tours yesterday (in the rain mind you) and we literally did not encounter another tour guide the entire time You are hurting future travelers by helping get rid of an activity that is often a saving grace for last minute bookings, a highlight of many people's visit to Detroit, and done by someone who is often cited as the best tour guide in the US! we ended early as your wife could not keep up with the physical demands of the tour and neither could you - and we still covered the entire circuit while being mindful of your physical health! as always best way to book is direct thru my website

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Detroit.
How much does Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Detroit usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Detroit is not rushed.
Is Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 102 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Detroit, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour?
+
Around 36 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Detroit can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Detroit and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Best Downtown Detroit Historical Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Detroit within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Detroit?
+
Detroit tours cover Motown Museum and music history, Eastern Market murals, Ford factory and auto heritage, riverfront cycling and Belle Isle, plus a strong food-tour scene. On Outty we rank every Detroit experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Detroit Architecture Walking Tour: Inside Access & Landmarks, Detroit Sweet Treats Food Tour: Donuts, Coffee, Pastries & More, Detroit's Hidden History Guided Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Detroit?
+
May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Detroit?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
