About this experience
Escape Lisbon for one of Portugal's best-kept secrets: the Berlengas Islands, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve just 1.5 hours from the city. On this private full-day tour from Lisbon, you'll travel in comfort to the fishing village of Peniche, board a shared boat to Berlenga Grande. Visit the iconic São João Baptista Fort, built in the 17th century to defend Portugal's coastline from pirates. Walk the island's nature trails, swim in crystal-clear Atlantic waters, and explore dramatic sea caves — optionally by glass-bottom boat. Unlike crowded group tours, this is a private tour: just you, your group, and your dedicated guide. Want to add even more to your day? We can combine this Berlengas day trip with a stop in the medieval walled village of Óbidos — one of Portugal's most charming destinations, just 20 minutes from Peniche.

Exceptional tour!
Marta was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. She was very personable and helpful. Our family enjoyed the personal experience at several beautiful locations. A private tour is the only way to fully enjoy a long day!
Response from the operator: Yhank you — Berlengas makes a day, and doing it at your family's own pace really does change how it feels. The island rewards the effort, and we're glad the day worked so well for all of you. I'll share your kind words with your guide. It would be a pleasure to plan another day out with your family sometime. Rui

Beautiful places to visit!
My friend and I had a very nice time visiting, Peniche, Berlengas, and Obidos on our tour. Staying in Lisbon without a car, this was the best hassle free way to see those places. Our guide, Filipe was punctual, flexible, and had many suggestions of what to see in the area. Due to the timing of the boat onto and off of Berlingas, we did not have time for a swim, in addition to the blue cave and island boat tour, touring the fort, hiking to the village, and having lunch, so if that is important to you, speak with your guide to plan the best use of your time on the island.
Response from the operator: Hello Mrs. Melissa, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you enjoyed your tour of Peniche, Berlengas, and Óbidos. As you mentioned, Berlengas is a natural reserve with certain restrictions on the number of visitors and the duration of their stay. We aim to plan and organize our tours to include a boat trip, hiking, and a visit to the fortress, along with time to enjoy lunch and a short swimm. While I understand your desire to spend more time swimming, the natural reserve's limitations can affect the overall itinerary. It's often our guide's goal to encourage guests to take a dip, and I'm sorry if there was any misunderstanding regarding this. I appreciate your perspective and will ensure that our team is aware of your comments to improve future experiences. Thank you once again for your insights, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour in the future! Best regards, Rui

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon cost?
+
Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Berlengas Island Private Day Trip from Lisbon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
