Our guide will give a comprehensive summary of the historical events and answer any questions. Afterwards, we will have a short stop in the town of Berchtesgaden. The return journey via the German alpine road shows you the impressive valleys of Bavaria. In the event of bad weather conditions (fog, ice, snow) which make a trip up to the Eagle's Nest impossible, we offer a longer visit in the documentation center and the town of Berchtesgaden.

What you'll see and do
Stachus
We’ll meet at 8:15 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart at 8:30 a.m. and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to Eagles Nest/Obersalzberg. Don't forget your passport!!!

Upon arrival at the Obersalzberg parking lot, please proceed with your tour guide to the departure point for the special bus. Once your guide has picked up the skip-the-line tickets for the group, you will take the red special buses up the mountain for about 15 minutes. Upon arrival, walk through the tunnel to the original lift to go directly to the Eagle’s Nest (now a restaurant). On a clear day, you'll have a spectacular view from there. (you are at 1834 m altitude)

After taking the shuttle bus back down to the parking lot, you will have free time until the tour bus departs for the town of Berchtesgaden. During this time, you can have lunch at the "Berggasthof Obersalzberg" (at your own expense) or go directly to the Obersalzberg Documentation Center. The restaurant is located in the terrace hall of the former “General Walker” hotel, making it a historic building on the Obersalzberg.

The Obersalzberg Museum traces the history of Obersalzberg as a center of power during the Nazi era. It is a very interesting exhibition that reopened in 2023 following renovation and expansion. There, you can also tour the bunker complexes from the Nazi era. Admission is included in the price of the special bus tour.

Berchtesgaden
After a short drive, you’ll get off the tour bus in the center of Berchtesgaden. Our experienced tour guide will lead you on a walking tour through the town, pointing out some of the main sights and explaining the history of Berchtesgaden over the course of about 20–30 minutes. After another about 30 minutes of free time in town, all participants will meet back at the bus for the return trip.

History and Views Delivered, Itinerary Needs Adjusting
Overall, this was a great 10.5-hour excursion to Eagle's Nest and the town of Berchtesgaden, though there's room for improvement on the itinerary. The Good: The trip offered a solid mix of history and sightseeing, with plenty of opportunities to eat and explore along the way. At the transportation hub where you board for Eagle's Nest, you also get access to the Dokumentation building, which is a worthwhile stop. Room for Improvement: - The tour could easily be trimmed by about 30 minutes without losing much. - Our guide didn't mention that there's a full Nazi bunker beneath the Dokumentation building open for exploration — I only found it by accident. This would have been valuable information to share with the group. - We didn't arrive in Berchtesgaden until nearly 4pm, by which point many shops had already closed for the day (it was a Saturday), which was disappointing given how much of the town's charm is tied to browsing its stores. Bottom line: A worthwhile trip with great sights and history, but tighter time management — especially getting to Berchtesgaden earlier — and better guide commentary would make it even better.
