Catherine Lu Tours made our China Trip very special!

My wife and I traveled to China for the first time and coordinated a visit across 4 cities in 8 days with Catherine. We were in Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu and Shanghai. It was a rapid highlights tour with 2 days in each city. I booked the hotels and flights internally, but, Catherine and her team did the rest from airport pickup and drop off the private tours in each city. As clients we had very high standards and were also constantly improvising our travel plans including pulling in flights or trains. So not an easy tour to organize with so many moving pieces across a short amount of time. Catherine did a great job of getting us setup in each city and planned all the logistics perfectly. She got a WeChat group going with all of the guides and drivers which made communication of plan changes relatively easy. In each city her drivers were very courteous and her guide’s extraordinary! In Beijing - it was Sonia - she knew all the ins and outs of Beijing and navigated us to the Great Wall and orchestrated a seamless visit to the forbidden city and many other sites. She was flexible, organized and kept us well informed the whole time. in Xi’an - it was Tina - she had a big heart, was full of knowledge about the terracotta warriors and this ancient city. She guided us well and stayed flexible with our schedule changes including pulling in tours and trains. In Chengdu - it was Shine - she has a welcoming and calm demeanor and made our visit to the panda bears and the city of Chengdu very efficient and special. Her caring approach was very much appreciated. In Shanghai - Henry - he has been giving us tips on flights and transfers from the day we arrived. Has kept us up to date and made all preparations to make sure we have a great visit in Shanghai. Special thanks to Catherine, who I was bugging every day including the weekends. She stayed patient and flexible while coordinating our entire visit to China. Could not have done this without her help!

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 36-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
