Not worth the time!
The guide was pushy and seemed very focused on us spending money the whole time. The stops- cigar making, cacao, and sugar cane factory were just small under developed toirist traps. The guide made it seem obligatory to purchase at each stop. Our time at Bayahibe beach was short and just another opportunity for someone to take our money at restaurants and shopping stalls.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize if you felt pressured to make purchases during the tour. This is never our intention. The stops at the coffee, cacao, sugar cane, and cigar demonstrations are included to give our guests the opportunity to learn about traditional Dominican products and culture. Any purchases made during these visits are entirely optional. We also regret that you felt your time at Bayahibe Beach was too short. Your comments are important to us and will be shared with our team as we continuously review our tours to improve our guests' experience. Thank you again for your honest feedback. We truly appreciate it and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.

Wonder Countryside Tour in Dominican Republic
My wife and I just completed our tour and it has been some journey. - in a good way. We were picked up at our hotel by our tour guide and driver in an open air safari looking truck. I first thought it may be too hot for this but the movement of air as the truck is moving provided a comfortable breeze. First stop - sugarcane field. Truck pulls off the road at a field and our tour guide provides historical information about the crop while the driver extracts a sample sugarcane and cuts the cane into bite size pieces to chew on - delicious. 2nd stop was Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia chuch the main Catholic Church of the Domican Republic (DR). What a grand structure. You get to walk thru the church passing a historical door and we got to walk behind the alter which patrons get to pray with their hand on the case that displays jeweled'frame of the Virgin Mary. I would go on but it is worth seeing this item that many people pilgrimage to come see routinely. 3rd stop for us was a home of a local farmer. It was interesting to see the home structure. Owners were hospitable and accommodating. They had a number items displayed for purchase that were interesting. My wife certainly found several items. We proceeded on with the tour to another home where we had a nice tasty Dominican lunch followed by a boat ride along a river where our awaiting safari truck was parked. Now I will say at the home we had lunch, you will go down steps and venture back up for lunch and then back down. If you're a senior like me (and a little out of shape and turning 71 shortly) this will be tiring but the lunch will give you time and nourish you for energy to go back down to the boat which will take you along the river to the truck. I made it through. The tour ended with going to a cigar factory and store where you will see a couple of cigars made and sample a couple. They will have other things to sample and buy. Last stop, chocolate factory. I never knew there were so many variations of chocolate. Cacao plants and the finished products - so much to choose from. Between stops you'll get a sense of how the population lives and the resilience of the people. Generous tipping will go along way for the people that provide services and motivate great service.

Shops after shops
Mostly driving around trying to get you to spend money. No real time on the beach.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the excursion did not meet your expectations. We understand your disappointment regarding the time spent driving and the limited time at the beach. Your comments are greatly appreciated and will be taken into consideration as we continue working to improve our guests' experience.

Perfect trip for getting away from the resorts
The resorts are fantastic. Great food, great service. However we felt a bit locked in. Taking the family on a Runners Adventures tour was just what we needed to stretch our legs a bit. We got to see a bit of the city, and the countryside, and a river cruise. Well worth the price and we highly recommend it!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Romana.
How much does Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana cost?

Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Romana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Romana is not rushed.
Is Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Romana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Romana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Romana and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Bayahibe Countryside Safari from La Romana start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Romana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Romana?
+
On Outty we rank every La Romana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Saona Island Full Day Tour, Hip hop boat party punta cana live Dj & OPEN BAR soca dancehall, Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Romana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Romana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
