What you'll see and do
Long Phuoc Tunnels
Our first stop will be Long Phuoc Tunnels – one of the lesser-known tunnel systems in the Vietnam War, however, it still contributed a lot to the battlefield. But why visit this tunnel? It is right below the old Long Phuoc Village, which was destroyed during Operation Enogerra in June 1966 (2 months before the Battle of Long Tan). Now, we begin to walk through the timeline of the famous battle.

Nui Dat hill
Next, we will visit the old Luscombe Airfield (or Nui Dat Airfield), the runway built for 1ATF – which is now turned into a road inside the town of Long Tan. Here we visit a local grocery store and have some cold beers before visiting the Long Phuoc Abandoned Kindergarten, which was built by Australians to restore the damage of the war. After that, we will have a short walk through the rubber tree plantation to visit the hidden RAR Memorial Nui Dat. The memorial was built during the last years of the Australian Army in the Vietnam War (1969-1971). The journey takes us to Nui Dat Base (or Nui Dat 1), where the Australian Army put their base when the Battle of Long Tan took place. Although the area has been turned into a quarry, we can still see some similarities with the old photos from the past, which our tour guides will show you one by one. After that, we will get in our car to the rubber plantation, where Delta Company 6RAR fought the Battle of Long Tan.

The Battle of Long Tan
Inside the rubber plantation, our tour guides will show you the Battle Maps to see what happened during the Battle. After finishing, we will go inside the area of Long Tan Cross, the memorial of those who fell in 08/1966. Here you will give them some flowers, and incense to show respect to their sacrifice. The journey through the past has ended. Now it is time to go to the future – the peace that was built from all of the sacrifice of of those who have fought for their country.

Well worth the trip!
This tour was one that you could never do on your own. We were collected from outside our hotel in Ho Chi Minh in an air-conditioned comfortable car, at our preferred time, by Ms Trinh and Mr Binh who were very welcoming. We received a lot of information along the way and would definitely not have found the Nui Dat base or the Long Tan cross on our own. This tour was done with great respect to all sides of the Vietnam conflict and is definitely a must do. We were taken to a market place so we could buy flowers to lay at both locations and traditional incense sticks were provided. Would definitely recommend Peace Travel!

Australian War History Perfection
Battle of Long Tan & Nui Dat Guide Chris was excellent in his presentation and very thought full when at memorial sites. His knowledge of Australian war history is Amazingly accurate. Binh our driver was very safe when we were in built up areas and getting in and out of the vehicle. He kept the car at a great temperature at all times even when we were looking at historical sites

Excellent Long Tan experience
This was a wonderful experience and very informative. The price was very reasonable with very little extra expense for the whole tour. Leaving early was a good idea for traffic and cut down on travel time to experience better time on the tour. Everyone was kind and polite throughout the tour and stops. Private tours are the way to go with such good guides. Chris and Nhan are very good at what they do and the experience they offer. I really appreciate the professionalism of their tour.

Wonderful and moving tour in the countryside
Mr. Binh is a knowledgeable and friendly guide who showed me a good selection of segments of the old Australian Nui Dat base. The local knowledge is absolutely needed in finding these places, which are now all farmland and villages. Mr. Binh very respectfully and unbiasedly discussed Vietnam’s and Australia’s involvements in the war. Thank you for this moving and reverent tour.
