    About this experience

Our Friendly well experienced English Speaking Guide who is Born up & Rise up there and still lives at Banganga Residence. Visiting Banganga Tank provides an exceptional opportunity to submerge yourself in the history of the city, and learn about how it evolved from seven sparsely populated islands to the bustling metropolis it is today. Banganga Walkeshwar Walk is flanked by a narrow street lined with temples, homes, and dharamsalas (religious rest houses). It forms the route of the holy parikrama, a walk around the tank on foot, which Hindus believe to have immense purifying benefits. There’s also a dhobi ghat which is Mumbai’s most famous open-air laundry.

    Incredible Guide

We started our first day in Mumbai in Banganga with Aakash as our guide. Our guide is from this neighborhood, and has both historical and personal knowledge and experiences to share. Aakash is such an impressive a storyteller, and is able to connect historical events to modern context in a succinct and engaging way. Truly one of the most engaging and informative tours we have been on in a while.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that your Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour with Aakash was such a memorable start to your Mumbai visit. His deep local connection, engaging storytelling, and historical knowledge truly make the experience unique. Your kind words and recommendation mean a lot to us, and we look forward to welcoming you again for more unforgettable experiences with Mumbai Dream Tours!

A must walk for old world enthusiasts

Ajay, our host, was well informed, passionate and explained everything in detail! We have lived in Mumbai for over 20 years and had never visited or knew of it. Worth it.

    Living Nostalgia

I attended the Banganga walk organized by Khaki tours on 10th July. It was a great experience visiting a place in Mumbai where it seems like time has stood still. The surroundings around the Banganga tank haven't changed much since the last 100-150 yrs. It still resembled the pictures which were taken a century ago. Even the lifestyle of people in that area hasn't caught up with the hustle and bustle of rest of the Modern Mumbai. You could feel a slow and calm pace that's inherent in this area. Overall an enriching experience.

Response from the operator: Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. We are so delighted that you rate our service as 5 Star as we strive to provide just that for all our customers. We Look forward to seeing you again soon. Best Wishes.

Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $2000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Banganga Walkeshwar Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
