Do not recommend
I booked this experience for a family of 4, having read the description that promised something magical. The reality was a stark contrast. We got picked up by a van at 4.35 am, and dropped at the lake site in pitch darkness with zero instructions on where to go, how to get there or anything about bear safety and told to enjoy and that we would get picked up at 8.40 am! What followed was a scary walk up the rocks surrounded by signs that bears are everywhere! The actual sunrise was far from magical, as it was an overcast morning. The colours of the lake would've actually popped better if we picked a time in the middle of the day rather than on a cloudy morning. My advice is to book other local companies that make this experience more personal - hot drink, blankets, guides. Do not book through viator or trip adviser! It was a disappointment.

Chris was awesome, this tour was very chill
Grassi lakes should 100% be on your list when planning an itinerary and look no further than this amazing company. They are so good it's like going on a day trip with a friend. Chris was very knowledgeable and he hiked up with us and stayed with the slowest member of the group so everyone was always included. I'll be recommending this company to my friends back in England!
Response from the operator: Craig, thank you so much for your enthusiastic review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Grassi Lakes and had such a positive experience with our guide. It's wonderful that Chris made everyone feel included during the hike—our guides strive to create that friendly atmosphere. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope your friends in England get the chance to join us too! We look forward to see you again in the future.

Steep climb but worth it
Really good views, the tour guild was good, the only thing was you have to climb a steep mountain to get to Grassi lake which I didn’t know (I’m unfit) but once there it’s very quiet and peaceful. There is also a lot of walking at the grotto canyon, only wildlife we saw was a squirrel
Response from the operator: Sophie, Thanks again for your 5-star review! We’re excited to know that you had a great time on your tour and that you liked how our tour guide organized it. Grassi lake is really a great place for nature lovers. Overall it offers a peaceful escape for anyone looking to connect with nature. Our team works hard to create memorable tours, and your positive feedback is very rewarding. We can’t wait to have you join us for another exciting trip soon!

Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Banff.
How much does Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle cost?
+
Prices start at $109 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Banff usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Banff is not rushed.
Is Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Banff, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Banff can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Banff and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Banff: Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Banff within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Banff?
+
On Outty we rank every Banff experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway Full-Day Tour, Hop-On and Hop-Off Banff Bus, ShuttleBus 2way Banff to Lake Louise (1Hr) and Moraine Lake (1Hr). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Banff?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Banff?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
