Diving good, equipment really bad

First off I want to say I had fun and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Diving in Bali was a bucket list item I'm glad I did. I had 2 different instructors for my advanced open water cert. Team was knowledgeable and very helpful. That being said, my critical feedback is on their equipment. Their boats are old and peeling paint everywhere. We had to delay our day 2 dive at Tulamben bc diesel fumes contaminated our tanks (caught by an experienced diver not the staff) and their transport can didn't have AC, wipers or lights and it was raining on a 4 hour drive back from Tulamben. Serious safety hazard. The dives themselves were what I hoped for. Every other part was seriously lacking.

Response from the operator: Hi Raj, Thank you for having the time to leave us with a review. First and foremost, we are sorry for any unpleasant encouters which you experienced during the trip. In regards to the air tank, due to the overload in air tank orders, we had collaborate with a dive center nearby whom unfortunately provided less than adequate air tank quality which had then been replaced. Moreover, we typically provide transportation with AC, however, there had been an issue with it as well as the headlights which had caused them to not working for a portion of the trip. It is great to know that you enjoyed your dive trip with us. We really appreciate the feedback, they are very much helpful for us. And once again, we would like to apologise, for the unpleasant experience, this is not the level of service we aim for. We understand that this was frustrating and we hope to be able to provide the best experience possible. Warm regards, Bali Fun Diving team.

Experience of a lifetime

Booked a 2 day scuba package with these guys and right from the start them made us feel totally comfortable on the first visit the their dive shop to plan the excursions… I had a bit of a problem with the first dive due to bad cramp as it was a very choppy shore entry but Buddy couldn’t have been more helpful.. The second day Manta point had a few teething issues with a boat that didn’t want to play but this was handled very professionally and after a delayed start to the day it turned into the best scuba diving experience in my diving history … Can’t thank Buddy and everyone at Bali fun dive enough… if I come back to Sanur ( and I really want to !!!! My first call will be to these guys ) 10/10….

Do not dive with them!!!!!!

Do not dive with these people!!!!! I have dove all around the world, choose a different dive outfit here in Bali, there are plenty to choose from!! First off, I did a three tank dive with them on 10/19. They picked me up at 635 am. We drove to the dive office to get fitted for equipment and then had to wait and eventually drove to the port. But there I waited for over an hour for late divers to show up. Those divers were not penalized of course for being late. So we are running about an 1 1/2 hours behind schedule. Then we did our dives. We arrived back to port at 4pm. And once again they had me wait over an hour for my ride back to the office. Where I had to wait again for a ride back to the hotel. I did not get into my car back to the hotel until 5:30 arriving at my hotel around 6:30 pm. They wasted 3 hours of my day just waiting. Why did I pay all that money if you are going to just have me waiting. I should mention I had to pay them an extra fee for my driver, but for what?! Secondly, I already purchased in advance another three tank dive on 10/21. Unfortunately my wife got very very sick, so we had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night. I contacted them to let them know I could not make it and asked for a refund. They refused to refund me any money what so ever even though it cost me over $200 dollars plus extra money I paid for a driver and Nitrox. This is an unforeseen circumstance that I can’t do anything about. Refusal of a refund in this circumstance is theft. They don’t care about you as person but rather just money.

Response from the operator: Hi Benjamin, Thank you for having the time to leave us a review. We are really sorry that your wife has fallen sick and unable to join your second day of the trip with us. Feedbacks are very much appreciated. However, there are few things we need to adress/clarify. We are sorry that there was a slight delay on the arrangement of the trip, and we really appreciate the feedback and we hope to improve in any aspects possible. We use shuttled pick ups arrangement for our open trip in accordance to the schedule and that there are factors such as traffic which is beyond our control (we have tried anticipating it by adjusting the pick up time). Furthermore, we feel that 3 hours feels overly exaggerated. Additionally, ahead of the departure of the speedboat we need to wait for the porters to load up the logistics to the speedboat which has taken unexpectedly longer since the water was on low tide and the speedboat was unable to come closer to the shore and therefore hinder the process espcially are we are currently in the busiest season of diving with hundreds of divers queing up. In regards to the itinerary which may have affected the following arrangement of your plan. However, we have discussed the time estimation of the trip during the process of reservation. As we have also discussed prior to the reservation (referring to our terms and condition), that, we are unable to offer any refunds since the cancellation was less than 24 hours. Furthermore, it stated that cancellations for any reasons is non-refundable since we have already prepared for numerous aspects of logistics specifically under your name (guide assigning, speedboat spot, accommodation pick up/drop off, equipment set up, lunch order and many others). And terms and conditions are aggred upon the making of a reservation. Once again, much appreciated for the feedback. We wish your partner a speedy recovery and have a excellent holiday. Warm regards, Bali Fun Diving team.

Great sites !

Bali Fund Diving is a one stop full service dive centre that provide great dive master, well planned and executed trip. If you like everything planned well for you it is a good choice. The centre is quite flexible and can cater different needs. The dive master to diver ratio is 1:2 which makes every dive comfortable. Highly recommend!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seminyak.

How much does Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive cost?

+

How long does Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seminyak is not rushed.

Is Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 104 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Seminyak, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive?

+

Is Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Bali Diving Day Trip-Manta Point/Tulamben Shipwreck-Fun Dive?

+

Around 36 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seminyak can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seminyak and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Seminyak?

+

On Outty we rank every Seminyak experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Bali Waterfalls: Tibumana, Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan, Bali Instagram Tour: The Most Scenic Spots, Ubud Hot Springs and Waterfall Private Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Seminyak?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Seminyak?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
