Great experience!
Joslyn was an excellent guide! She was fun and welcoming. Facundo was an excellent driver and we felt safe in his car. Oscar did a great job on the boat! Life jackets were provided for everyone on the boat. We had an excellent time! Everything that was in the power of Tours Naturaleza Mahaual was absolutely excellent. If you read their instructions for where to meet carefully, then it is a very seamless process. The reviews that say it was hard to find the meeting place make me think they just didn't prepare well. The port at Costa Maya is a private port so the tour group has to meet you outside of the port gates. The beer and tequila included in this package were a nice little perk as well :) The only recommendation I have for a change is to maybe have lunch first and then the boat ride afterwards. Our ship didn't dock until 10:30 so by the time we got to the boat it was almost noon (1 pm ship time) and my kids were pretty hungry. Since we did the boat first, we didn't end up eating until about 2:00 (3:00 ship time). Here are the things that we had trouble with, but none were a reflection of this company, just things I wish I knew before booking. -we sailed with royal caribbean and the ship time on the app kept changing. Since this was not a RC sponsored excursion, we were nervous we were going to miss the ship and never really knew what ship time actually was. We ended up getting back on the boat an hour earlier than we needed to. Next time, I'd probably set a timer on my phone since I couldn't trust the app or my phone clock since both kept changing with time zones and ship time. -the drive out to Bacalar is pretty long. The cruise ship only docked for 5 hours and 2.5 of those hours were spent driving in the car to and from the lagoon. -the weather in October is pretty rainy. I'm glad we still did the excursion despite the small amount of rain, but it definitely wasn't as sunny and gorgeous as some of the pictures. The water was very nice and swimming was definitely the best part of the tour! If we had less of a drive, we could have gotten to swim longer. -bring snacks if you have young kids! Mine were so hungry by time we ate lunch, but the tacos were delicious. -be sure to bring cash to tip your driver, guide, and boat driver! -if my kids were younger or not great swimmers, I would have wanted to bring their puddle jumpers. My kids have never enjoyed swimming in life jackets. The water we swam in was safe and shallow so we swam without life jackets. I recommend to bring goggles so you can look for cool shells and snails.

Best Day in Costa Maya
Loved this excursion. I was nervous about booking an excursion where it was over an hour away from the port, but the back to ship guarantee helped me decide to go ahead and go for it. Our guide and our driver were excellent. Joseline, our guide was with us the entire time.. from the car ride, the pontoon boat, the restaurant. The lagoon was beautiful and the whole family said it was worth the drive. The Pineapple- let’s just say one wasn’t enough, it was so good! One thing I wish I woulda known was that you cannot wear sunscreen in the lagoon, had I known that I would have covered up a little more as I was already burnt from the day before. The drive there and back went much quicker than I thought it would. I will say there is not a lot to see most of the drive, but we all took a little nap on the way back. The tacos that were also included were very good as well!

Absolutely Fabulous Private Tour — Our Favorite Excursion of the Cruise!
Our Bacalar Lagoon excursion was absolutely fabulous and easily one of the highlights of our entire cruise! From beginning to end, the experience felt personal, relaxed, and tailored specifically to our family. Our tour guide, Yocelyn, was wonderful. We were traveling as a family of six, and one of the things we appreciated most was that this was truly a private tour— it was just our family. Yocelyn was extremely accommodating and allowed us to enjoy the day at our own pace. We weren't particularly interested in spending a lot of time at the Mayan stops and really wanted to maximize our time at the lagoon. She listened to what we wanted and adjusted the itinerary accordingly. That flexibility made such a difference and made the excursion feel like it was designed specifically for us. We also have to thank Aquino, our driver, and Tony, our captain, who helped make the day so memorable. We initially had a mix-up between ship time and local time, and arrived late. We were afraid we had missed our tour, but the team was incredibly kind and gracious about the situation. We were so thankful that they accommodated us, because we would have missed what ended up being our favorite excursion! Bacalar itself was breathtaking. The beautiful water and peaceful atmosphere were everything we hoped for and more. We also stopped at a local market where fresh pineapples were purchased, and later Captain Tony cut them up and served them with Tajín. Such a simple touch, but it was absolutely delicious and made the experience feel even more authentic. The fish tacos were fabulous, and the unlimited tequila certainly didn't hurt either! 😂 Another thing we loved was how willing everyone was to help us capture our memories. Yocelyn patiently took as many pictures as we wanted—and trust me, our family wanted plenty of pictures and plenty of poses! 😂 We never felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing anyone. What made this excursion stand out was the combination of the gorgeous lagoon, great food and drinks, wonderful service, and the freedom that came with having a private tour. Instead of feeling like we were following a rigid schedule with a large group, we were able to focus on what our family actually wanted to experience. Yocleyn, Aquino, and Tony truly gave our family a day we will remember for years to come. If you're visiting Costa Maya and considering an excursion to Bacalar Lagoon, we highly recommend this experience. We would absolutely do it again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars from our entire family!

Fun and relaxing and delicious tacos
We had a wonderful time visiting Bacalar Lagoon. Our driver was very hospitable and our captain very informative. The lagoon was beautiful and refreshing. The food we had was delicious. I would definitely recommend to others.
