    Ancient twist on modern foods

Much fun experience with a great host. Really learned a lot about the history of Lisbon during Roman times and how they made and persevered food using Garum. Very tasty and interesting foods using this ancient preservative to enhance the flavors. Would definitely recommend for couples and foodies!

Response from the operator: Dear Mike, thank you so much for joining us! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed discovering this fascinating chapter of Lisbon's history through its gastronomy. Exploring the legacy of Garum and how ancient techniques continue to influence modern cuisine is exactly the kind of connection we hope to share with our guests. We also do gastronomic experiences and trips to the Azores islands. Find out more on Oh! My Cod Tours. We think you might enjoy those too!

    Loved every bite!

What an incredibly interesting, fun and delicious evening. Marina was an exceptional guide and really great company. She was so knowledgable about the history of garum and was able to share that with us. The museum that we went to before our dinner was fascinating and we were happy to be exploring a different part of Lisbon. The food: One item was more delicious than the next! We ate fish prepared in ways we had never seen and probably would never have access to again. The restaurant we were at was beautiful and the manager incredibly friendly. If you are looking for an adventure this definitely fits the bill!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! Creating experiences that bring together fascinating stories, unique places and memorable food is exactly what we strive for, so it means a lot to know that you appreciated all these different elements. Thanks again for joining and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We hope to welcome you back in the future and, since we know you enjoy unique experiences, be sure to take a look at our website and discover our fantastic food and wine tours and trips in the Azores Islands!

    BOOK IT!

Marina was so kind, friendly, and funny. We had such a truly special and intimate experience learning about the garum history around Lisbon. Marina, thank you for your hospitality. It felt like we were touring with a close friend. If you want something truly memorable and small, book this. Some of the best and most creative food we had on our trip.

Response from the operator: Wow, thank you so much for the amazing review! It means a lot to know the experience stood out during your trip! Marina will be thrilled to hear your kind words — she puts so much heart into every tour. Lisbon is such a city rich in history that it allows us something truly fascinating — the chance to “travel back” in time through its flavors, stories, and traditions. It’s fantastic to be able to share that with you! We hope to welcome you back — either here in mainland Portugal or, who knows, in the Azores, where we also offer culinary trips and gastronomic experiences!

A stroll though deep time to a tasty lunch...

I went on this wonderful tour after participating in a conference in this beautiful and interesting city. It was a wonderful way to get a sense of the deep history and culture of the place, learn about sustainable seafood and 'whole fish' cooking, and of course to enjoy delicious food. The guide was knowledgeable, interesting and generous with their time and thoughts, and it was great group of people also. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your review, Stefan! We always strive to create journeys that connect gastronomy, culture, sustainability, and the deep history of our city in a way that feels both enriching and enjoyable. It’s lovely to hear that the themes of sustainable seafood and nose-to-tail fish cooking resonated with you. Sharing this philosophy of respecting the whole ingredient, while celebrating traditional flavours and techniques, is a very important part of what we love to do. We’re also so happy to know that the host, the food, and the group dynamic all came together to make the experience memorable. Your recommendation means a lot to us and we look forward to the possibility of hosting you again in Lisbon or the Azores islands, where we do culinary trips and gastronomic experiences!

Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $83 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Award-Winning One-of-a-Kind Garum & Fish Lisbon Food Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
