What you'll see and do

  1. This food tour takes place in the Heart of Marrakech: The Medina. On this flavor-packed and mouthwatering experience, you’ll taste your way through Moroccan culture, one bite at a time. Over the years, we’ve crafted and fine-tuned two delightful itineraries — each offering a rich and authentic journey through Marrakech’s culinary soul. Depending on the guide, season, or the flow of the day, your experience will follow either of these routes. Both are equally delicious, deeply local, and crafted with love and utmost care to give you a memorable evening.

  2. Itinerary 1 • Moroccan coconut macaroons – a kids’ favorite sweet treat • Kaab Ghzal (Gazelle ankles) – a yummy local pastry filled with almond paste aromatized with orange blossom water • Traditional Harira soup, served with dates & Chebakia – just like how locals break their fasting during Ramadan • Babbouche (Moroccan snails) – slowly cooked in an aromatic herbal broth • Authentic mint tea & Msemmen – pan-fried pancakes drizzled with honey and cheese • Fakya – a festive mix of dried fruits and nuts that is carefully prepared and commonly shared among families & friends during celebrations • Signature olives of Morocco, from the greens with their creamy smooth texture to the reds tossed in parsley and cilantro Dinner is served at a cozy local restaurant: fresh Moroccan salad + a hearty Tajine. For dessert, we’ll offer you Raïb – a homemade yogurt that’s simply divine.

  3. Jemaa el-Fnaa

Itinerary 2 • Msemen Amer – Moroccan pancakes stuffed with savory fillings, often featuring spiced vegetables, popular during teatime in Morocco • Harira & Chebakia – the classic soup-and-sweet combo • Makkla bel Kefta – the Moroccan twist on the Shakshouka • Sfenj – tradition Moroccan donuts, golden and crispy on the outside, while airy and chewy inside, one of locals’ favorite street food snacks • Lhindiya – refreshing cactus fruits, rich in antioxidants and great for cooling down in hot weather • Rass Mbekher – delicately steamed sheep’s head seasoned with cumin | Sometimes replaced by local Chawarma (Succulent chicken or crispy falafel) • Panaché – a colorful smoothie made from fresh seasonal fruits • Khoudenjal – a hot Moroccan herbal infusion made from galangal root, good for digestion and enjoyed as a comforting drink during cold days Dinner is an open-air Chwa experience – authentic Moroccan barbecue with juicy grilled meats (beef, turkey, and liver).

Amazing food

We met at the large square so it took us a while to find out guide since it was very busy but once we did everything was fabulous. Definitely go on an EMPTY STOMACH. We are lunch three hours before and thought we’d be alright but we were mistaken 😂 there was a lot of good food to eat on this tour and we walked away feeling like balloons. The food was amazing. Highly recommend

It's almost a "must do"...

It's almost a "must do" when in Marrakech - and a great idea to do this on one's first day for a warm welcome to Marrakech, and also an excellent way to get to find one's bearings in Jemaa el-Fna. Mehdi is an excellent guide.

Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 1,791 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech?

+

Around 627 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Authentic Moroccan Food Tour in Marrakech start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, Agafay Desert Package, Quad Bike, Camel Ride and Dinner Show. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
