What you get

    About this experience

Discover a lesser-known but deeply moving part of Auschwitz history on this alternative guided tour. The tour starts and ends in Krakow, with comfortable transportation provided to and from the memorial sites. This experience does not include a visit to Auschwitz I or Auschwitz II-Birkenau, but instead focuses on important surrounding sites connected to the history of the victims and the development of the camp complex. Visit the memorial to the final victims of Auschwitz and a mass grave of 700 prisoners shot during the camp evacuation in January 1945. Explore the area of the so-called “camp extension,” which housed new SS barracks, the last women’s camp, and the site of the final public execution. The official regulations of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum do not specify an age restriction; however, given the scale of the atrocities that took place at the camp, we do not recommend visits for children under the age of 14.

    Camp

Brilliant day out for myself and my wife. The driver who took us and brought us back was brilliant. Very professional from picking us up, sorting tickets out etc. The your was great and I learnt alot more today of the camp than I thought I would of done.

    Auschwitz III

Worthless, waste of time and cheated by both Headout and Comfort Tours Crackow: They charged us $900 CAD for 4 adults and in the last minute told us they could not give us a tour of Auschwitz and Berkenau from the inside - that if we could settle for a limited viewing they would reimburse us 20 %. What we got was utter rubbish for $720 CAD - a very sophisticated form of a scam. We spent 2 hours 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs at a museum that had little or nothing to do with Auschwitz and Berkenau.

Response from the operator: We apologise for the inconvenience, but we have finally agreed to a 50% refund.

Avoid it if you cannot get an alternative tour operator to Comfort Tours - give it a miss

Having booked this tour thinking we were paying through the nose for the tour because of the closure on the day after we had arranged - we were advised we would be collected at 0900 hrs but final time would be confirmed on the day prior. As I hadn't heard anything I text them asking for confirmation of pickup time to be told it would be 1450 hrs. I queried whether that was correct as the site closed at 1800 hrs and the tour was promoted as a 7 hour tour with 3.5 hrs on site - I was reassured that the closing time was the last time for entry to the site. Thinking that we would then be arriving at circa 1600-1630 - I took their word that it would be ok. A big mistake on my side. The bus turned up on time but then spent 1.50 hrs driving around Krakow centre collecting people and passing my hotel a further 3 times - I queried with the driver who said the tour guide was booked for 1720 hrs !! I checked the traffic details and it was showing an arrival time at circa 1800 hrs - and as it went dark at 1930 - it was clear that we would not be getting what we had paid for - a cost of £260 for two people was an excessive charge but we thought worth it if we got the tour. We then said we wanted to get off the bus and wanted a refund to which the driver said ok he will tell his boss and we should get in touch with him. Looking at one of the other people on the tour putting their review on here it was clear that there was no guide and the maximum they had was 1 .5 hrs before it was dark and they had to return. It was bad enough that we didn't get to see the site but the company has offered a measley 20% refund via the booking agents Tiqet app - and seem to have put us on block and now refusing to respond to our mails - Tiqet also have been a big disappointment on this as they are dragging their heels to get an answer on a refund - merely saying they are waiting a response from Comfort Tours even though it was Tiqet who took the booking. If you want to do this tour - stay away from Comfort Tours - and even if you can't find an alternative would suggest you don't bother at all - this company just takes your money and promises a decent tour but doesn't hold up their side of the agreement !

Response from the operator: We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience; I am currently facing a severe shortage of admission tickets to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. In April, the Museum hosts the March of the Living and celebrates Easter, and during this period, the number of tickets is very limited.

Overall great experience 10 out of 10

George was our driver, and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough. He is a genuinely nice and polite person who made the experience even more enjoyable. What really stood out was how he went out of his way to show us a different part of the tour so we could see the original carriages from Auschwitz, which was incredibly meaningful and memorable. His professionalism and kindness made a lasting impression, and I would absolutely rate his service 10 out of 10.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are glad the tour met your expectations. We look forward to serving you again in the future.

Driver to and from Krakow and Auschwitz

Olek was a wonderful driver and ensured that we arrived at the Memorial on time and helped us navigate the otherwise confusing entrance situation. Would definitely recommend him and Komfort Krakow!

Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport cost?

    +

Prices start at $190 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport?

    +

Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Private Transport start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
