It was incredible, breathtaking, and a cognitive ability is developed with new information
From the timely pick up from Jamie at the Hotel and the all the way and back was incredible. The journey was easy, relaxed and safe. Jamie guiding skills were brilliant, his knowledge second to none. Rototua walk was breathtaking, serene. Then Waiotapi journey was equally inspiring, the learning was unparalleled. Understating the Māori culture intimately is not to be missed. The combination of the three in one tour was seamlessly coordinated and executed well by Jamie. If I would ever bring my family God willing, this experience is not to be missed.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review. We’re really glad to hear that you felt comfortable and relaxed from the moment Jamie picked you up through to the journey home. We’ll definitely share your kind words with Jamie. It’s wonderful to hear that his knowledge and guiding made such a difference and that you enjoyed learning more about the Māori culture alongside the geothermal wonders of Rotorua. Most of all, we love hearing that you’d bring your family back to experience it too. As a small family-run business, that means a great deal to us. Thank you for choosing Expedigo and for recommending us so highly.

Wonderful tour with amazing sites!
We had an excellent tour including Rotorua, Waiotapu, Te Puia, and Māori. Our tour guide, David, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. He was very helpful with the needs of his tour group. The sites were amazing! The geothermal springs and mud flats were amazing. The tour was enhanced by David’s selection of stops for snacks at the best bakery and ice cream shop! This tour is one of the best we have taken. Thanks, David for making the tour special! Dennis & Jo
Response from the operator: Thank you Dennis & Jo for such a lovely review. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the day and got to experience so much of Rotorua, from Wai-O-Tapu and Te Puia to the Māori cultural experiences. We’ll definitely share this with David. It sounds like he looked after you well — and clearly knew exactly where to stop for the important things: good coffee, bakery treats and ice cream! We really appreciate you choosing our small family business, and it means a lot to hear that this was one of the best tours you’ve taken. Thank you again for travelling with us and for taking the time to share your experience.

Nice trip
A fantastic day trip to Rotorua with our guide Jason! Jason is extremely knowledgeable and shared many wonderful stories about the landscapes, Māori language and culture along the way. Jeremy chatted nonstop with him throughout the drive, and Jason was always patient answering all our questions. We loved visiting the geothermal park with colourful thermal pools, mud pools and the Māori village. We were amazed by the traditional carving crafts and the powerful haka performance. The itinerary was well planned and packed with amazing experiences. This tour exceeded our expectations and created unforgettable memories for our whole family. Highly recommend Jason as your guide!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this beautiful review. Being a small family-run business, it means a lot to us when guests take the time to share their experience in such detail. We’re especially happy to hear how much you enjoyed travelling with Jason. And Jeremy keeping him busy with questions the whole way sounds like a great sign! 😂 We’ll definitely share that with Jason — we’re sure he’ll have a laugh and be very happy to hear how much you enjoyed his stories and knowledge. Rotorua is such a special part of New Zealand, and there’s so much more to it than just the geothermal landscapes. We’re glad you got to experience the colourful pools and mud pools alongside the Māori culture, carving and the incredible haka. It’s wonderful to know the day exceeded your expectations and gave your family memories you’ll take home with you. That’s exactly why we love doing what we do. Thank you again for trusting our little business with your family day out. We truly appreciate it.

An Unforgettable Day Exploring Rotorua!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Day Exploring Rotorua What an incredible day from start to finish! My Mum and I booked the Auckland to Rotorua tour, visiting Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and Te Puia, and honestly, it exceeded our expectations. The journey from Auckland is a long one, but having David as our tour guide made every minute worthwhile. He was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, patient and genuinely passionate about New Zealand. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, included and had an amazing experience. Our first stop at Wai-O-Tapu was absolutely breathtaking. The geothermal landscape is something you really have to see with your own eyes. From the bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles to the incredible colours of the Champagne Pool and Artist’s Palette, it felt like we’d stepped onto another planet! 🌋✨ We then headed into Rotorua, where we had a little time to explore and grab some snacks before continuing to Te Puia. Te Puia was another highlight. Walking through the geothermal valley and seeing Pōhutu Geyser erupt was incredible, but experiencing the Māori culture was what made the day truly special. The traditional arts, carving and weaving, the stories, songs, poi and especially the powerful haka gave us a much deeper appreciation of Māori culture and heritage. 🇳🇿❤️ But I have to give a special mention to David. Tour guides can completely make or break an experience and David absolutely made ours. His knowledge, personality and genuine enthusiasm brought everything to life. He didn’t just drive us from one place to another, he told stories, answered questions, looked after everyone and made the entire day feel personal. My Mum and I came away with beautiful memories, lots of laughs and a much greater appreciation for New Zealand’s natural beauty and culture. If you’re visiting Auckland and have the opportunity to do this tour, DO IT! 🙌🏽 And if you’re lucky enough to have David as your guide, you’re in for an absolute treat! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you, David, for making our day so memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! 🇳🇿❤️ 10/10 experience and highly recommended! 🌋🖤
Response from the operator: Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful review. This genuinely means a lot to us. We’re so happy to hear that you and your Mum had such a memorable day with us. It’s a long day from Auckland to Rotorua, so knowing that you felt the journey was worthwhile makes us especially happy. David will absolutely love reading this. He puts so much care into looking after our guests, sharing the stories behind the places we visit and making sure everyone feels comfortable and included. We’ll definitely be passing your kind words on to him! It’s also wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed both Wai-O-Tapu and Te Puia. They offer such different experiences — the incredible geothermal landscapes and then the opportunity to learn more about Māori culture and traditions — and together they make for a very special day. Thank you again for choosing Expedigo and for trusting us with such an important day for you and your Mum. We’re so glad you went home with great memories, lots of laughs and a deeper appreciation for New Zealand. Reviews like yours are exactly why we love what we do.

Why this scores 84
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka cost?
+
Prices start at $227 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 113 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka?
+
Around 40 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Waiotapu, Te Puia and Maori Haka start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
