ATV Quad or Buggy Safari Trip in Sinai Desert of Sharm El Sheikh

Very disappointing experience!!

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. We had previously done the quad bike excursion twice and loved it, so we booked again because our children had enjoyed it so much. Sadly, this time was completely different. We were given conflicting pick-up times, left waiting on arrival and did not receive the full 30 minutes of quad biking we had paid for. There were numerous unnecessary breaks, making the experience feel rushed and disjointed. We were also constantly pestered by young children trying to sell us items, which took away from the experience. Even the guide apologised as we left. Not recommended.

However, we would like to clarify several points for future guests, as some aspects of the review do not accurately reflect the service that was provided. Regarding the pickup time: your safari was booked to start at 18:00, with pickup scheduled approximately 30 minutes beforehand depending on the hotel location. Your safari started exactly at the reserved time of 18:00. On the day of the excursion, our driver contacted you at approximately 16:00, earlier than the scheduled pickup. We immediately apologized for the early contact and explained that this occurred during a particularly busy period with a high volume of requests. However, this did not cause any delay or change to your booking. Your safari proceeded at the original reserved time of 18:00. Regarding the quad biking time: the safari is not advertised as one uninterrupted 30-minute ride. The total riding time is approximately 40–50 minutes, divided into three separate riding sessions, with each stage clearly explained in the itinerary. The experience also includes the mandatory safety briefing, scheduled stops, the Eco Mountain/photo opportunity, the Bedouin tea experience, and the final riding section. These are planned components of the safari and are not unnecessary breaks added to reduce riding time. Safety is a particularly important part of any ATV and buggy experience. Before leaving the safari center, all guests must receive a safety briefing covering vehicle operation, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, no racing or running, following the guide's instructions, and the other safety requirements. During your experience, your family was part of a larger group of 28 guests. When some participants were not following the safety rules, our team took additional measures to protect the group. Your family was separated from the larger group and continued with an English-speaking guide, specifically so that you could enjoy the experience more comfortably and safely. Regarding the children trying to sell items, these were local children/vendors in the Bedouin area and are not employees or representatives of Stepway Tours. We understand that being approached by vendors can be uncomfortable, and we are sorry that this affected your enjoyment of the experience. Finally, our communication records show that the safari was completed and that at approximately 20:09 you confirmed that you were on the bus returning to your hotel. This means that approximately 2 hours and 39 minutes had elapsed from the start of the safari at 18:00 until you were on the return transfer, with additional time required for the transfer back to your hotel. We understand that the early contact from the driver may have caused some confusion, and we sincerely apologize for that inconvenience. However, the actual safari started at the reserved time of 18:00, the advertised riding program was provided, your family received an English-speaking guide, and the scheduled safari experience was completed. Perfectly organised!

I booked the Quad experience with Stepway Tours and it couldn't be organised better. From the pick-up with the bus, to the arrival in the Safari Location to the briefing and the quad ride itself. The are is beautiful - between the Sinai mountains - and I'd recommend going for sunset time. Prefare for a lot of dust and a lot of fun!

Bring a scarf and money for ‘tips’

It was all a bit meh. It was very chaotic at the start. We got out of our transfer vehicle and joined groups from about 7 other vans. We had no idea where to go or what we should be doing. After about a 15 min wait, we were told we needed scarfs and glasses to protect from the dust. We were not told this at any point before and we only had sunglasses with us - we had to buy the scarfs from them. We were charged $5 for a very poor quality scarf - that lasted about as long as the quad experience. The scarf is necessary so either bring your own or buy from them. They do help tie it so it is secure. That is the extent of the safety equipment. Onto the quads. We had paid for two double quads - which looked like all the other quads. We just had to sit a kid either in front or behind. They look like they’ve done some miles but they all ran and worked fine. We drove off into the dusty mountains. There were 10’s of quads from all the other groups doing the same route and so it felt a bit mad max. But was fun. They keep you in groups and you cannot really go very fast or fall out of line with your group. There is a stop about 10-15 mins in for some Bedouin girls to sell you bracelets and ask for a donation - quite aggressively, and the for the group to stand in a row and shout into echo mountain. Then back onto quads to get to the camel riding. My daughter was thoroughly unimpressed and opted out of the camel ride and so my husband stood back with her. I went on a camel, as did my son. They walked us about 20 yards from the main group and begged me for money. Saying I could pay them a tip by card if I didn’t have cash. I had to raise my voice to get them to stop begging for tips and return me to my family. The ride is literally 2 mins of riding, some begging and then two mins back. Then back onto quads to stop at a tent set up for shisha and tea. The stop lasts about 10 mins and after tea we were aggressively asked for money and tips for photographs. Which were all out of focus and blurry. We declined again. Next, back to the quads back to where we started. We were wanting to get a bit of speed and enjoy the dessert but were told no. We drove in an orderly line back to the start and dismounted. We were supposed to go for Bedouin dinner and a show, but we opted out and asked to be taken back to the hotel. I couldn’t face an evening of being begged for tips so we went home. I would NOT do this experience again.

Amazing experience and once in a lifetime to do! Take water and your own headscarf/sunglasses or you’ll have to pay (but not much) to rent them. People speak a good amount of English to tell instructions.

The buggy where fine but I'm not to happy with camera feller because I'm not married he said while we were sitting in the tent he'd take my girlfriend away from me ,for himself well back home in liverpool England in a pub or a bar I would of knocked him out ( punched him ) I took that as a insult and told him that he said he was joking and I said you don't joke about stuff like that ,iv been with my girlfriend 28 years so he had a cheek ,he wanted £30 for his photos I gave him roughly £10 only because he was like a little fly ,so he ruined the quad experience i was gonner rebook for the weekend but no thanks ,pick up driver was excellent Thankyou
