Athens/Acropolis
Our guide Apollon (?) was great when it came time to tackle the Acropolis. He made sure to break up the climb into segments, stopping under shade each time while he gave us more info on what we were seeing. I had my doubts about making it to the top (& back down!) at 70 with a bad back and bum ankle but I was able to do it!
Response from the operator: Go Phyllis! Reaching the top of the Acropolis is an achievement for anyone, but doing it with a bad back and a bum ankle makes you an absolute rockstar. We are so incredibly proud of you, and we're happy that Apollon (you got his name right!) paced the stroll so perfectly with those shady history breaks to help you conquer it. Thank you for proving that age and minor setbacks can't stop you from experiencing the magic of Athens! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team

Expert guide didn’t know about lift access at the Acropolis
We were on a cruise pickup tour. Our son has a disability, and uses waking sticks. He was fine with the Athens walk, but struggled to climb up the Acropolis. He, and a few others from our group, chose not to continue. The guide showed them where to wait while the rest carried on to the top. We later found out that there is actually lift access to the top. Why didn’t our ‘expert’ guide know this ????
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We do state in our tour description that the Acropolis is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments, as the site involves many stairs and uneven terrain. While there is indeed a lift at the Acropolis, it is not always accessible—it operates under specific conditions and requires prior arrangements with the site authorities. For this reason, your guide may not have advised using it at the time. In the case of private tours, if we are informed in advance, we can help arrange access to the lift whenever possible. However, for small group tours the itinerary is set, and such arrangements cannot be made on the spot. We hope this clarifies the situation and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team

Good tour for walkers
A lot of walking but well worth it. The guide was well informed and we saw lots around the area we walked
Response from the operator: Thank you, Debra, for your lovely feedback! We’re so glad you found the walk worthwhile and enriching. Our guides love sharing their knowledge while making sure you see the very best of the Acropolis and its surroundings. Delighted to hear you enjoyed the experience!

Great tour
Loved acropolis. Guides were great. Little disorganized with taxi and meeting spot at metro. The jewelry store mentioned at meeting spot was nowhere to be found. Must be a new jewelry store name that wasn’t updated. Other than that it was a great tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, Tina! We’re pleased you loved the Acropolis and enjoyed the tour with our guides. We apologize for any confusion with the taxi and meeting spot. Thank you for choosing us, we’d love the chance to welcome you back for another memorable experience!

Great guide but timing and locations not great!
Let me start by saying Annie was an incredible guide and if I was just rating her I would give her a 5 star. But I am rating the company so I will give a 3 star. There were 20 people in the group which is larger than advertised. The tour started walking through the garden in the cool of the day. That was so silly to walk there. It had almost no historic value. Why be there when it was cooler and be on the top of the accropolis when it was extremely hot? It would have been better for the company to get an earlier entrance. The skip the line did work well but it was at 11 am and so hot it was most unbearable. Annie tried to keep us in the shade but that is difficult. Annie taught to different locations and countries and did an excellent job. The tour should skip the garden and go to other historical places and walking past the prime ministers home was not necessary either.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review and for your kind words about Annie – we're thrilled to hear she did such a great job guiding the tour! We’d like to clarify a few things about the tour and how it's structured. First, our group size has a maximum capacity of 24 guests, and in your case, the group did not exceed that limit. We also offer specific tours that focus solely on the Acropolis, for those who prefer to dedicate their time there. The tour you experienced was the City Tour, which includes both a visit to the Acropolis and other significant parts of Athens, like the changing of the guards and a walk through the city. This allows guests to get a well-rounded glimpse of the city’s rich culture and history. We start the tour in the garden and other areas early to make the most of the cooler hours before reaching the Acropolis, and it’s important to note that once we finish at the Acropolis, guests cannot reenter with the same ticket. Almost all our guests appreciate being able to spend additional time there at the end of the tour. We understand your concerns about the heat and will take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 133 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour?
+
Around 47 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Athens Shore Excursion: Acropolis Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
