Not in Athens!
Please be aware this is NOT in Athens . It is extremely far from Athens despite claiming otherwise in title. When problems arose they were not accepting of handling it in a timely manner . There are local options that won’t cost more money to get from city to this tour which is over one hour away .
Response from the operator: **Request for Review Investigation and Removal** Dear Mrs. Kriechbaum, We are truly sorry that you were unable to attend our Sandal Workshop. However, we were also very disappointed to see such a negative review Given the wording of the review and the fact that it appears to have been posted with the intention of harming our reputation, we felt it was important to clarify the situation, especially in light of the many genuine five-star reviews shared by our guests. As several statements in your review are inaccurate and do not reflect the actual information provided in the listing or the communication between you and our side, we have to mention the following: First, your review states that our experience is “NOT in Athens” and that it is “extremely far from Athens despite claiming otherwise in title.” This is not accurate. Our Workshop is based in the Athens region, and the experience is clearly described in the listing as being approximately 35–40 minutes from Athens city centre. The exact location and meeting point are provided in the experience details, allowing customers to review the location and travel time before booking. The listing does not state that the workshop takes place in central Athens or that it is within walking distance of the city centre. You acknowledge in your own message that you did not realize the exact location until the morning of the experience, stating: “I do apologize for not checking that until this morning.” This is particularly important, as the location information was available in the listing before the booking was made. The fact that you did not check the exact location until the day of the experience does not mean that the listing was misleading or that the experience falsely claimed to be located in central Athens. Secondly, you state: “When problems arose they were not accepting of handling it in a timely manner.” We strongly disagree with this statement, as it is not supported by the actual communication. Once we received your request through the Viator booking platform, we contacted you straight away and offered an alternative evening session. Specifically, we offered to reschedule the booking to an available workshop on following day either July 16th or July 17th at 6:00 p.m. Our exact message was: “Because we always want to ensure our guests have the best possible experience, I was wondering if you would be happy to reschedule your booking to one of our evening workshop sessions on either July 16th or July 17th at 6:00 p.m. We completely understand that things don't always go as planned, and we're happy to accommodate you whenever possible.” We also provided our direct WhatsApp contact details to facilitate faster communication. Therefore, contrary to your review's claim, we did take action to assist you and offered an alternative solution despite the fact that the difficulty arose because you had not checked the location and travel time before the scheduled activity. Furthermore, we offered an alternative date and time even though the original booking was for a specific scheduled session and the issue was not caused by any failure on our part to provide the experience. We made this additional effort because our guests are important to us and we genuinely wanted the customer to have the opportunity to participate in the workshop, EVEN we don't have too. We fully understand you may have been disappointed by the distance from your hotel. However, disappointment regarding the location or travel distance does not make the listing inaccurate, particularly when the location and distance from Athens city centre are clearly disclosed in the experience description. We remain fully available to provide screenshots of the complete conversation and any additional information required. Kind regards, Dimitris X Marianna

The Best Experience Ever!!!!!!
This workshop was the best experience ever! The hosts were so kind and made it so enjoyable for all!
Response from the operator: Dear Shakira , Thank you so much! ❤️ We’re absolutely thrilled you had such a great time with us! We always say that making sandals is only half the fun — the other half is the laughter, the stories, the little mistakes we fix along the way, and of course, the good company! 😄👣 It was such a pleasure having you with us, and we hope your sandals will keep taking you on many adventures — with a little piece of Greece following you wherever you go! 🇬🇷☀️ Come back anytime… we’ll have the leather, the tools, and probably a little more laughter waiting for you! 😉

An Absolute Must-Do Near Athens! Unforgettable Sandal-Making with Marbe
If you are looking for a truly unique and memorable experience anywhere near Athens, you absolutely must book the sandal-making workshop at Marbe. It was hands-down one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! The Hosts: Dimitri & Marina The workshop is located just outside of the main hustle and bustle of Athens, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special. Dimitri and Marina are super amazing! They are the ultimate hosts—incredibly warm, welcoming, patient, and deeply passionate about their craft. They treated us like old friends, and their wonderful energy made the entire session so much fun. The Experience We loved literally everything about it. Dimitri and Marina guide you through the entire process step-by-step with a lot of laughs and expert knowledge. You get to: Work with beautiful, high-quality authentic leather. Learn the traditional steps of crafting footwear. Customize a gorgeous pair of sandals tailored perfectly to your own feet. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of walking out wearing a stunning, comfortable pair of custom leather sandals that you actually helped create! The Verdict: If you want a genuine, hands-on, and incredibly fun piece of Greek culture to take home with you, do yourself a favor and book this experience. You will love every single second of it. Definitely do it!
Response from the operator: Dear Avrohom, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful & detailed Review. ❤️ It really means a lot to us. It was such a pleasure having you with us at Marbe. We truly enjoyed spending that time together, sharing the craft, having some laughs, and seeing you create your own pair of sandals from start to finish. Knowing that the workshop was one of the highlights of your trip makes us especially happy. We put a lot of love into what we do, and it’s guests like you who make the experience so special for us too. We hope you enjoy your sandals for many years and that every time you wear them, they bring back some good memories of Greece and your time with us. 🇬🇷❤️ Thank you again, Avrohom. Absolutely Incredible experience!
This was truly one of the most incredible and unique experiences we've ever had. First and foremost, Marianna and Dimitris immediately make us feel like family by inviting us into their beautiful artistic space, along with their breathtaking land. The studio sits on a tranquil piece of paradise, that was so calming and refreshing during our evening session. Together we created beautiful sandals for myself and my husband, with them explaining each step in the process and even letting us perform some of the steps under their guidance. The process was fun, engaging and incredibly special; one we won't ever forget. Not only was it a unique opportunity to try something we'd never done before, but we were so grateful to have these two special individuals guiding us the entire time. Run, don't walk to join this amazing activity if you're in Greece.
Response from the operator: We are floating after reading this— thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Hosting the two of you under the evening light was pure joy. Watching you both roll up your sleeves, take the tools into your own hands, and put so much heart into crafting your sandals made the session just as memorable for us as it was for you. You came as guests, but you truly left as family. Every time you step into those sandals back home, we hope they bring you right back to our quiet piece of paradise in Greece. Wishing you both safe travels, and remember—Our door and studio are always open for you!

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Athens Make Your Own Greek Leather Sandals Workshop start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
