Our day starts with the Acropolis, focus of life in Ancient Athens & surrounded by its amazing cyclopean' wall, ' wall, wall built by the Myceneans thousands of years ago. The Acropolis is home to the Parthenon, but also many other amazing monuments. You will first enter through the giant ‘Propylaia’ behind which once stood a gold encrusted statue of the Goddess Athena. You will also see the Temple of Athena Nike (or 'Viktory') from 420 BC before other important sites such as the mythical Erechtheion, unique in its construction with its iconic statues of the Caryatids, and the World’s oldest Theatre of Dionysus from the 6th Century BC, which would have seen the very first performances of ancient plays by Sophocles and Euripides among others. The impressive & fully renovated Roman theater, Herodius Atticus, completed in AD 161, also in the site, was dedicated to the wife of a rich benefactor and still hosts a vibrant public summer program.

Great tour!
Our guides were knowledgeable and we felt we had a very well-rounded and thorough tour of Athens for the one day we had to see all the sites. We booked an archaeological tour guide additionally and we highly recommend that add-on. Vicky was so wonderful and knew how to get us quickly in and out and which spots to go first so we didn't miss anything! What a spectacular piece of our history! We were exhausted but so happy! We learned so much!

We had a private tour of Athens and then drove down the coast to see the beautiful Coastline of Athens. Dem was our tour guide and he could not have been better! From the moment he picked us up at the hotel until the end of the day. Dem told us so much about the rich and beautiful history of Greece but also answered all of questions about daily life here now. Throughout the day he told us stories of Greek Mythology which my husband and I loved hearing. We drove down the coast and lovely seaside lunch. Delicious vegetables, fish and mussels. We can't recommend our experience enough!
