No Bus Trip to Acropolis -More Walking than Advertised

This trip was not quite what we expected. The bus tour and museum were great, but we expected a ride to the base of the Acropolis. The walk to the Acropolis from the Museum was at too fast a pace and too difficult a climb for my wife, so we had to forgo the walk up. We never made it up to the top. We wouldn’t have taken this tour if we knew what was entailed.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the bus tour and the New Acropolis Museum, but we’re very sorry that the walk to the Acropolis was too challenging and prevented you from reaching the top. Unfortunately bus cannot go closer to the Acropolis Hill/ site and there is paved walking road and stairs uphill. Your comments will take under consideration your comments so future guests have clearer information about what the tour entails. MTM Customer Support

    Poet Andrew The Legend

Poet Andrew was an absolute delight incredible worthsmith and MC. It was a memorable experience. I recently moved to abingdon and visited Oxford for a bus tour with a friend. Best Decision ever, so much so I might go again just for the Poet Andrew Experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled that Poet Andrew made your Oxford tour so memorable and enjoyable. It’s fantastic to hear you’re already thinking of joining us again! — MTM Travel and Tourism

    Disappointed!

The guide, while knowledgeable, did not ensure everyone in the group had equal access to the information he was sharing. He stated he’d walk slowly so all members of the group could keep up, but he didn’t. In addition, he didn’t look around to see where his group members were. He didn’t carry a sign in the air so he could be tracked. There were no audio devices to hear what he was saying and he exhibited a somewhat negative attitude to some members of the group. Several people left the group to explore on their own and we heard others express their dissatisfaction with the tour guide in general. Of course, the location and museum were outstanding, but we wouldn’t go on this tour again.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, We appreciate your comments regarding your recent tour. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t have a good experience with our activity. We work really hard to make sure our customers love our activities and service, so thank you for sharing these points with us as will help us to improve. MTM Dmc Team

    Somewhat disappointed.

Tour guide was knowledable but did not maintain contact with the whole group, losing some at times. She used a black umbrella to see her but did not keep it at a hight to be seen. Drop off was not made at our pick up hotel. Bus driver dropped us off on a street and gave us confusing instructions where our hotel was. The tour guide had left the bus half an hour earlier.

We work really hard to make sure our customers love our activities and service, so thank you for sharing these points with us as will help us to improve. MTM Dmc Team

Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

Is Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Athens City Tour With Acropolis and Acropolis Museum start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
