Worth a visit if you love chocolate!

I booked this 4 years ago and had to cancel our trip and was so sad. When we came back to Cancun I immediately reached out to see if they still did this tour and they were flexible and arranged a date for us! We loved our experience. Axel and Michelle were both super knowledgeable! We loved making our own cocoa and our own chocolate bars! Everyone was very kind, the kitchen was clean, and we really enjoyed the experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for coming back to Jaguar Journey after four years! We are truly happy that we had the opportunity to welcome you this time and make up for the experience you had to postpone. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed learning about cacao and making your own cocoa and chocolate bars. We are especially glad that Axel and Michelle made the experience both informative and enjoyable, and that you found our team welcoming and our kitchen clean and comfortable. Thank you for choosing us and for sharing your experience. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to see you again on your next visit to Cancun!

    Best Chocolate in the World

there were so many beautiful moments: the kids stirring the cocoa beans, hearing about the Maya tradition of cocoa and the chef’s personal journey with the process, tasting the chef’s creations with kids, watching them choose flavoring and toppings as they created their own chocolate. I would recommend all cancún visitors do this experience and i can’t wait until their product is ready to ship to USA; we have eaten chocolate from all over the world and this has been my favorite so far.

Response from the operator: Hi Dear! 💖 We want to sincerely thank you for your amazing review on TripAdvisor. It fills us with pride to know you had such a special experience with us. We hope to be part of your future adventures. We’d love to see you again! Warm regards, Vanessa DCSM Head of Marketing and Design at Jaguar Journey 🐆

Learn about the importance of chocolate in Mexican culture, make some amazing chocolate, and taste the best

We really love taking food making tours whenever we travel, and a chocolate making activity seemed perfect. The tour starts at a local restaurant where the tour operator picks you up and takes you to the workshop, which is only a 5 minute drive away. This is because there's little to no street parking at the location. I will say, we were warned as Americans to be on the lookout in case someone tried to kidnap us, so getting into a car with strangers seemed a little odd, but I assure you, it's perfectly safe! At the workshop we got to first learn about the history of cacao, talk to the operator and the chocolatier, and ask questions. This is a hands on excursion which is a lot of fun. We first drank chocolate drink, which was so rich and authentic. We got to roast cacao beans, and then take melted chocolate and make our own large dark chocolate rounds for melting later. We also got to mix up and temper chocolate, form it into bars, and then put in whatever toppings we wanted. The chocolatier was so great to learn from and had so many amazing samples and things to try. After that, we sampled even more different gradients of chocolate in bitterness and sweetness, and we had fresh treats waiting for us. This was a great experience for the whole family. I initially pushed back on my wife for a chocolate making experience because I'm not a fan of sweets. But after this experience, I now find that I've developed a sweet tooth. Would happily do again!

Response from the operator: Hi dear! 💖 On behalf of everyone at Jaguar Journey, I want to extend our deepest thanks for your wonderful review on TripAdvisor. An amazing excursion…. A gem of an experience.

We were collected on time by Axel who was also to be our interpreter for this brilliant experience. Driven the short distance to an artisanal chocolate workshop where we had a lesson in how chocolate is produced from the seed being planted to the harvest and the regions growing it, then we tempered the chocolate and made a personal bar of chocolate to our own flavour and then wrapping it. The workshop was all hands on and at an easy pace. We were the only two on it so it was very personal. We tried numerous different chocolates while there from their artisanal range with different percentages of cocoa and each one was explained in detail to us. We left after two hours thoroughly happy. The excursion is probably not the usual kind of thing people think about doing when visiting Cancun, but you really should…..

Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún cost?

    +

Prices start at $2220 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Artisanal Chocolate Bean to Bar Workshop in Cancún start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
