Seeing a different side of Oaxaca. If you're into visual art & expressive pieces definitely go on this tour.

This tour was more than I could ask for. Our tour guide Juan was amazing & very knowledgeable about the different workshops we visited. It was fun to also get chocolate breaks in between workshops. The workshop owners were super friendly & open to inviting you into their space. This tour is a lot of walking so go prepared but Juan was great with checking in on us & if we needed a break we got a break before continuing our walk. Have cash ready if you want to buy any art pieces.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that our Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops tour exceeded your expectations. We couldn’t agree more—Juan is truly amazing! He’ll be thrilled to hear how much you appreciated his knowledge and attentiveness throughout the tour. It’s fantastic that you enjoyed visiting the workshops and felt so welcomed by the artists. Sharing the vibrant art scene of Oaxaca with our guests is a real joy, and we’re so glad the chocolate breaks added an extra sweet touch! 🍫 Thank you for your recommendation. We hope the rest of your time in Oaxaca was just as memorable! Warm regards, The Etnofood Team

The Best Way to Experience Real Oaxaca!

The Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops tour was a fantastic experience. We were guided through the streets of Oaxaca by knowledgeable, passional individuals. They made extra effort to tailor to time and plan to our specific tastes and interests. We visited several excellent chocolate shops and several printmaking studios. At each location, the work and craftsmanship were outstanding. Quite a bit of the tour was "behind the scenes" -- a chance to see artists at work, to see chocolate being made, and to meet the artists themselves. There was no pressure to buy anything, and we were urged to return on our own time if we wanted to experience more. We received as much or as little explanation and background as we wanted in each location. Etnofood (and Teolab) are staffed with amazing, caring, dedicated individuals. They are guided by passion for sharing and promoting their culture, and they go out of their way to help visitors hear, see, smell, feel, touch, and -- most importantly -- taste what is most genuine and significant about Oaxaca's culture. I took several classes and tours with this organization, and each one was excellent -- entertaining, enlightening, fun, and educational. In my opinion, there is no better way to learn about and begin to truly appreciate Oaxaca's culture than through Etnofood.

Response from the operator: Dear Camarillo! We’re thrilled to read your wonderful review! 😄 We’re so excited to hear that your experience on the Art and Chocolate tour was both memorable and enriching.🎨 Every word you’ve shared reflects exactly what we aim to offer: an authentic immersion into Oaxacan culture, where every detail is thoughtfully planned to ensure you enjoy it to the fullest based on your tastes and interests. We’re delighted to know that you cherished those special moments, meeting the artists and seeing how the art and chocolate we love are made. Those magical moments are what make Oaxaca so special! Your recognition of our Etnofood and Teolab team fills us with pride and gratitude. We are deeply committed to our mission of sharing the most genuine and meaningful aspects of our culture, and knowing that we made a positive difference in your experience motivates us to continue with even more passion. Thank you for trusting us to explore and learn about Oaxaca. We look forward to welcoming you back so you can continue discovering this beautiful land with us. Until the next adventure! With love, Etnofood

Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $999 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Art Workshops and Chocolate Shops Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
