    About this experience

Imagine the contrast of being almost weightless in ice-cold water, while kept warm at the same time. This truly magical feeling experience is really worth trying, and probably something you won't get too many chances to do. At our night tours there will also be a possibility that you'll get to float beneath the skirts of the Green Lady herself, Mrs Aurora Borealis. Of course, we're not able to promise her presence, but we will cross our fingers that she turns up. Watching the Northern Lights is an experience on its own, to do it while floating is out of this world. After your floating session, we will welcome you to sit by the campfire, dice inside in our cozy cabin by the shore, or simply stay out and enjoy the surroundings. We will serve hot drinks and some traditional Norwegian pastries. For private groups, please contact us directly.

Although the premise of this experience is fantastic, my partner and I both had leaky dry suits which made this a wet and cold experience. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights during our float, but if they weren’t there this would not have been worth it. The hut was more a shack and we didn’t mind, but it was not well kept and seemed like just an obligation by staff. Would only recommend if your chance to see the lights is high and if you’re ok being on uncomfortable while you’re in the water.

Overall, highly recommended, a great experience !! but there are a few areas that could be improved: The tour should be longer, as the time it takes to put on the suits reduces the actual time spent in the water, and in the end, you get very little time to enjoy the experience. The suits and thermal layers provided should be cleaner. We found them dirty, and since they come into contact with your skin in certain areas, they should be better cleaned for hygiene reasons.

    Not worth the money.

Expensive for the experience had. Guide was not engaged and actually rude. On phone the whole time, raw cinnamon rolls served so inedible. Gutted post this trip as very disappointed.

Amazing, once in a lifetime experience

Amazing experience! We’ve been relaxing warmly for almost an hour, with northern lights and shooting stars. Cheers to Mathieu!!

This is a must thing to do while being in Tromso! I had so much fun and this experience is so unique. Our guide on 20/03 was a French girl (I am sorry for not remembering the name) and she was so devoted. She took a great care and pictures for us! Thank you so much for making our activity so memorable!

Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tromso.

How much does Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord cost?

    +

Prices start at $233 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tromso usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tromso is not rushed.

Is Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Arctic Ocean Night Floating in Ramfjord start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tromso within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tromso?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Minibus Chase from Tromsø with Chasing Lights, Northern Lights Big Bus Chase with Chasing Lights, Tromsø Northern Lights Chase We Go Where The Lights Appear. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tromso?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tromso?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
