Unforgettable trip — even without the aurora!
I traveled solo and joined this tour on September 20, and it was a highlight of my Alaska trip. Our guide, Ron, was wonderful — friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. Over the 15-hour journey he shared stories about Alaska's culture, history, and economy, answered everyone's questions, and kept the conversation lively the whole way. We didn't see the aurora due to the weather, but the Dalton Highway scenery was unique and the day was thoroughly enjoyable. Ron even shared his photos with us afterwards. Highly recommended!

Thank you Midnight Sky Adventures!
My trip north to the Arctic Circle with Midnight Sky Adventures was a great experience from start to finish. It was my first and probably last trip north of the Circle. Ron, the owner/operator, made it a pleasure by "breaking the ice" with early conversations among the 5 passengers in the group. He was prompt, organized, knowledgeable, pleasant, and prepared. He spoke when necessary without trying to fill space between landmarks. The tour van was well-equipped and supplied for the 13.5-hour round trip. I'm satisfied that I received good value for my money.

Oklahomas and the Arctic-AWESOME
Ron is an absolute amazing guide! He is very knowledgeable about the pipeline, the region, the roads, and the stops! He took such good care of us! The van was very clean and comfortable, he provided an assortment of beverages and snacks. This was a small group experience and it was worth every penny. The weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t see the northern lights, but that didn’t diminish the experience. We would definitely book this trip or any other that Ron is spearheading! Thanks so much Ron for such a wonderful adventure! Your personality and ability to make everyone feel valued will take you along way in life! Jim and Bev from Oklahoma

Off to the Artice Circle!
This was a great adventure! Ron picked us up at our hotel in his new raised roof all wheel 13 passenger van. The difference from other tours is that even though his van holds 13 passengers he only takes a max of six which makes for a more roomy and comfortable experience on this long ride. He also offered snacks, water, gator aid, and hot beverages complimentary.. Ron is a wealth of information which he shares during the trip. We stopped at the Alaska Pipeline, the Yukon River, a trading post/restaurant, and the artic circle. He was also always on the lookout for wildlife. We chased the aurara but cloud cover prevented us from seeing it. The scenery was amazing! We loved this tour!

Great tour with an amazing guide, Ron!
Had a great Arctic Circle tour! We were unlucky with the weather and couldn't see the Northern Lights, but our guide Ron was amazing. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and took great care of everyone throughout the long drive. His safe driving and excellent commentary made the whole trip fantastic. Highly recommend Ron to anyone visiting Fairbanks!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.
How much does Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $379 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour take?
+
Plan for about 13 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.
Is Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 13-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 13-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Dalton Highway Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?
+
Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours, Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?
+
Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Fairbanks?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
