Amazing! Thanks Ciaran!
This makes for a long day if you’re going back to Dublin but it is well worth it, especially if you have good weather! Lots of moving pieces but Railway Ireland make it easy. Both hosts were very nice and they give you a packet at check in to help with questions. The whole day was expertly timed out. The plane ride is an 8 minute adventure in and of itself. The island of Inis Mor is drop dead gorgeous. I do recommend bringing some snacks as we ate right before getting on the train at 7am and then didn’t get to eat again until 2pm! Also recommend wearing good shoes as you have the option to hike up to the Fort of Aonghus for some amazing views of the cliffs and the ocean. BONUS - our tour guide on the island, Ciaran (an Inis Mor native), was so nice and knowledgeable. If someone can let Ciaran know we did make it to the Dublin/Donegal GAA match per his suggestion and it was SO much fun!! We also had over two hours to explore Galway. Highly recommend!!

An unforgettable experience with my guide John!
If you’re staying in Dublin and looking to make a visit to the Aran Islands and Galway without the hassle of driving yourself, this is an excellent option. I had the pleasure of spending time with my guide, John Todd, who was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. His company really added to the experience! I’m subtracting a star because I feel like I would have benefited from his company the whole time (which is what I had expected). Instead, the tour drops you off with the plane company in Galway following the train ride, and then you join a bus tour when you land on the main island. Having John with me would have made that experience way more memorable. Thankfully he was there to give me a proper Galway tour after my visit to the Aran Islands! Overall, I would recommend this excursion.
Response from the operator: Dear J, Thank you for your lovely 4* review. We are so glad you enjoyed our Aran Islands tour from Dublin! Your kind comments about John Todd are very much appreciated - I am sure he will be delighted. Regarding the point you made for subtracting the star - I do understand your point of view however, especially in busy summer months, it isn't sustainable to have our hosts travel on the flight with you due to the limited number of seats on the plane. However we always ensure our customers are well-informed for the short amount of time they spend in transit between hosts/guides. I am glad that John was an exceptional host when he met you again in Galway in the evening. Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team

Although the trip was...
Although the trip was generally well run and efficient, the connection on the island with the local guide for the island tour left much to be desired. We were given poor connection information and and it took an hour to find the guide. That was a terrible waste of our time.
Response from the operator: Dear Steven, Thank you for your review, though we are disappointed to hear you did not have a 5* experience. We are glad to hear most of the tour was well-run and efficient. Regarding the Aran Islands connection, it clearly states on the itinerary (provided on day 1 of the tour) that our Aran Islands tour guide will be waiting by the pier at 12H. Because the tour relies on scheduled ferry times, this brings our customers to Inis Mor at around 11H, allowing you some time to explore the area before the Island tour begins. I hope this clarifies the issue for you. All the best, The Railtours Ireland Team

Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin in July 2025
My sweetheart and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour, from meeting John McDonald at the Heuston Train Station, to the plane ride over to Inis Mor, there and back again to Dublin was a delightful experience! John is truly a gift to the travelers who are guided by him. His laughter and commentary are insightful as well as delightful! His shared knowledge of our itinerary, and the tidbits he revealed along our journey, made the trip even more memorable. We HIGHLY recommend! BTW...Steve surprised me while we were strolling the gardens of Blarney Castle two days after this tour. He proposed! I do believe we will be returning to your lovely country sooner rather than later.
Response from the operator: Dear amybM8519DI, Thank you very much for your wonderful review! Your kind comments about our host John are very much appreciated and he will be delighted to receive such lovely feedback. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you both on your engagement! We are delighted to have been a part of such a memorable experience in Ireland. Stories like yours makes what we do all the more worthwhile. We hope it is not too long before we have the pleasure of welcoming you back on tour with us! Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team

Best One Day Tour Ever
Absolutely brilliant tour from Corina in office, with John, Norman and Joe full of local knowledge. I actually booked Inishmore and Ring of Kerry and highly recommend both. I'm a Dub and honestly, the perfect way to visit the West first class train comfort without the hassle. Will continue to book more trips with RailtoursIreland. Simply the best.

How long does Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin take?
+

Is Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 105 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin?
+

Is Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 14-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin?
+
Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Aran Islands Scenic Flight and Galway Rail Tour from Dublin start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Dublin?
+
On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Belfast Titanic Dunluce Castle Giants Causeway Tour, Dublin to Belfast Black Cab: Dunluce Castle and Giant's Causeway, Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Dublin?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Dublin?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
