Hidden gem of a museum in Siem Reap

This was a last-minute addition to our itinerary in Siem Reap and absolutely worth the visit. In fact, we would have loved to don’t prior to our visit to Angkor Wat. The museum is so well designed with short videos and clear descriptions for the exhibitions that make the story of the monument come alive. There is exceptionally good content. Song Peng was our driver and he was very accommodating as he patiently waited while we spent the afternoon in the museum.

Response from the operator: Dear. Sir. madam Thank you for Choosing to Travel with tours services, Your Review will help us and other guest getting to more useful Information about Cambodia and more.., We hope to serve you again in the near future, Have a good days, Best regarding, Bayon tabi tours, Manager.

Very interesting museum despite the repetitive number of archaeological pieces

We visited the National Museum. For Canadians the price is high 12$USD. There are many repetitions of objects from the temples. The narration of Cambodia's past life is interesting.

Response from the operator: Dear. sir, madam Thank you for your kindly Reviewing us, and thank for choosing our company to served you during your trip in cambodia. Historical understanding

This is something that should not be missed. It should be done before you do any trips to the temples around Siem Reap as it gives you a great insight into the history, the style of construction of the temples and also the statues. It gives a fuller understanding of what you are looking at, particularly if you go to the temples with a good guide as he will complement what you have learned at the Museum.

Unfortunately it was closed but reopens on November 1st.

Luckily I had visited the museum in Phnom Penh which I believe is much smaller but gave me a taste of what this Museum would offer. A must see when in Siem Reap. I was advised that it will be re-opening on the 1st November 2022 ( a covid issue)

Angkor National Museum Experience Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does Angkor National Museum Experience Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Angkor National Museum Experience Tour take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is Angkor National Museum Experience Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Angkor National Museum Experience Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Angkor National Museum Experience Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Angkor National Museum Experience Tour?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Angkor National Museum Experience Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
