Seeing Rome without the exhaustion, confusion and long lines!! Make it your best day Ever.

We recently used RomeInLimo for 2 of our port stops, Rome was first, and could not be more grateful that we put ourselves in their capable, caring hands. I can only imagine the volume of clientele they must get and yet I believe they have all the best drivers and/or guides available. Our first experience was in Rome, we had last visited on a cruise in 2002 and also spent a weeks visit a few years before that- could not believe how much Rome had evolved!! The crowds were never like this some 25 years ago and I am glad we had an expert to help give us an incredible day. With our limited shore time and it being our 16 yr olds first visit- we chose the major Rome sites but went with the Aqueduct/Catacombs add on rather than the Vatican. Our driver was Piero and he was an absolute treasure. We travel a lot and knew to be amongst the first off the ship at this port. There were a ton of drivers holding signs and we had no trouble finding our name and off we went- probably ahead of 98% of everyone headed for Rome that morning. Piero has lived in Rome all his life, he knows every street option and tactic, we were there in just under an hour. We let him set up the order of the sites we were seeing as he knew where the logjams of packed crowds would ebb and flow. He drove the 3 of us right up to great vantage points just feet from his gorgeous car, while throughout the day we saw so many others trudging in massive groups and gathering around guides holding flags, we easily saw 3 or 4 times as much. There were things you could opt to do- like walk through the forum, but it's not like in the old days, you have to stand in massive lines, he knew of a vantage point that few knew existed and was able to point out everything from our nice shaded patio. It was mindblowing. When it came time for a lunch break he carefully felt us out about how we wanted to spend it- we did not want to take a lot of time from our day over eating- I can eat on the ship- we wanted something that could be ready quickly, eaten quickly and in a shaded outdoor cafe setting so we could people watch and wouldn't be too noisy. We also told him favorite places we had eaten in Rome in the past but that are not there anymore- post covid. What a wizard, he took us to the perfect spot, we didn't have to wait for a table, he made sure we were seated and waited on before heading for his own quick break (and to move his car). We met back up 30 min later happier than words can express and were on our way to Trevi Fountain, then the Aqueducts and Catacombs. The mob around the Trevi ftn were insane, don't miss it- he even took us past the Vatican so my teen could see the exterior where the Pope has made his appearances- it looks immense in person compared to on TV. Every bit of our day was so perfect that they haven't yet come up with the words to do it justice. If you are going all that way to see Rome- this is absolutely the way to do it, let them make your day magical too, I'm sure glad we did.

    Perfect

Lorenzo was top notch. He picked us up curbside at our hotel, we hit the major highlights before the crowds, and didn’t have to think about directions or driving. And our out of Rome day was fabulous. Adorable villages, great views, and fascinating catacomb. Gulia, our Vatican guide was incredible. A wealth of knowledge and took us through the museum narrating the highlights. She was invaluable!! Highly recommend.

    See Rome like a Roman!

Fantastic Day with Rome in Limo and our Private Driver! Punctual and great personality. We experienced so much of Rome in one-day that would have taken several to do on our own. Very good value for the money! Highly recommend.

    Ancient Rome Tour

Francesco was simply amazing! His knowledge and wisdom of all things Ancient Rome was astounding. He shared story after story, while masterfully intertwining facts, dates, significant events as well as prominent figures. We were soon filled with the history and culture of Ancient Rome. His sense of humor, patience and flexibility gave my family a memorable experience that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Francesco!

The Excellent Christian Tour of the Holy Doors

Since it is the jubilee we wanted to see the open basilicas with the holy doors, the CHRISTIAN TOUR by Rome in Limo. Since we did a private Vatican tour earlier, our driver added Santa Croce, the holy steps, and the catacombs instead, dropping us at the Borghese (also a must see, get tickets or impossible) for a 5:00 tour. Our driver Stefano was excellent! Very knowledgeable of history, knew all the best places to park, a perfect place for a quick lunch. He respected that we wanted to spend a lot of time in the basilicas and managed our day perfectly. There would be no other way to see it all in a day. Worth every penny.

Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $158 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ancient Rome and Catacombs with Private Driver Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

    +

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

    +

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
