What you get

    About this experience

Start your journey with the best introduction to Amsterdam on a 2.5-hour walking tour through the historic city center. Led by an expert English or Spanish-speaking guide (Dutch upon request), explore the city’s iconic landmarks while hearing fascinating stories about its growth from a muddy village on the Amstel River to one of Europe’s most important trading cities. Discover Amsterdam’s contrasts, from the history of prostitution and drug decriminalization to its cultural, artistic, and architectural heritage. At the end of the tour, enjoy a typical Dutch pancake menu in a cozy city-center restaurant, including a starter of pea soup or Dutch delicacies, a pancake main dish, and dessert or coffee. We always aim to schedule the tasting at 1:30 pm, but in some cases, it may take place later. Afterward, continue exploring Amsterdam at your own pace, visiting museums, cafés, or charming streets.

Incredible walking tour- a must for first time visitors

Walking tour or central Amsterdam- amazing first day with an incredible guide-Pia. We were given a voucher for a Dutch pancake which also included a cup of delicious pea soup with bacon and a roll with butter. Plus ice cream. Pia was so knowledgeable and friendly. A great first day here!

Response from the operator: Hello Heather, We would like to thank you for your enthusiasm following your first tour of the capital with Pia. We are delighted that your exploration of the historic centre and the traditional menu met your cultural and culinary expectations. We look forward to guiding you again on your next trip.

I’ve been on a lot of...

I’ve been on a lot of walking tours in many cities around the globe. Most include a lot of history and details on what we’re seeing. We walked by a lot of things without explanation. This tour could have been so much better if the guide had done that vs talking about the cost of rent, his house buying experience, etc. I like to learn a lot on tours like this and I think a self guided tour I download would have been better.

Response from the operator: Hello Karen, We are very sorry that the style of our guide did not meet your personal expectations, although we greatly appreciate that a traveller with so much experience has given us their point of view. Many of our customers appreciate precisely this human and contemporary touch on real life in Amsterdam, as it is something that a downloadable audio guide could never offer to complement the history of the city.

The tour guide was pretty informative and funny. Entertaining and worth the money. We have heard some nice and interesting stories about the place and different spots we visited throughout the tour.

Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake cost?

    +

Prices start at $44 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Amsterdam Small-Group Walking Tour with Typical Dutch Pancake start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
