Riquewihr
After 20 minutes drive we will arrive beautiful Riguewihr . For centuries this magnificent town has managed to combine the quality of its architecture with the quality of its world-famous wines, from where it gets its nickname «The Gem of the Alsace Vineyards». Riquewihr, not to be missed when visiting Alsace, is an «open-air museum» .It has managed to preserve its authentic character behind its city walls, which are now besieged only by the vines. Riquewihr, a very old town, is made up (among other things) of: half-timbered houses dating back to the 15th - 18th centuries, built very close together, the Dolder (a 13th century defensive gate), which make up an exceptional architectural whole. The Alsatian house type reaches in Riquewihr its most accomplished expression in offering all the possible declinations of sculpted half-timbering, oriel windows, inner courtyards embellished by old wells and fountains.

This medieval town is surrounded by vineyards and mountains and has a rich history and culture. You can admire the colourful half-timbered houses, the elegant town hall and the impressive castle ruins that dominate the panorama. Don't miss the opportunity to cross the 16th century fortified bridge and enjoy the picturesque view of the river and the village. And if you come in December, you will be enchanted by the festive atmosphere and the traditional Christmas market

Colmar
Fourth stop will be Nestled in the heart of the Alsace region in northeastern France, Colmar is a charming town that feels like a storybook come to life. Known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, colorful half-timbered houses, and romantic canals, it's often called “Little Venice.” Visitors are enchanted by its cobblestone streets, blooming flower displays, and vibrant local culture. Whether you're strolling through the historic center, enjoying a boat ride on the canals, or savoring traditional cuisine at a cozy winstub, Colmar offers a delightful blend of history, beauty, and hospitality that captures the essence of Alsace.

Fun time in France
We went to beautiful villages. Everyone always talks about Colmar but we liked the other two better. They were smaller and retained more of their charm. The tour was at our own pace so my mom didn’t get overwhelmed. Our driver is very knowledgeable about all the places we went to.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this lovely review. Colmar is indeed beautiful and well worth visiting, but we always try to show our guests some of the smaller, more authentic villages that many visitors miss. We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed them and that we were able to create a day that was comfortable and not too tiring for your mother. Thank you again for spending the day with us. It was a real pleasure to be your driver and guide, and we hope to welcome you back someday!

Highlight of Our Stay In Basel
Wonderful day out! Excellent driver, who was also the most knowledgeable guide. Sun, rain and snow, three countries visited (Switzerland, Germany and France) in one day, plus a great meal in Ste. Hippolyte along the way! What could be better? 100% highly recommended!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this great review! I am so happy that you enjoyed your tour, even the weather was not so good. It was pleasure to be your driver/guide and I really hope we will meet again!

The Best Day Possible
We were fortunate to tour with Aarno of Niemi tours. We did and saw so much more than with most tours. Aarno provides a comfortable and comprehensive tour covering not only the well known sights but also places we had no idea about and loved. His suggestions were spot on: A charming village, a waterfall, a delicious lunch with local specialties. He is expert in off the beaten path surprises. He is also extremely considerate and attuned to his passenger's needs going out of his way to provide the best possible experience. When we were dragging a bit after touring Colmar, he took us on an unexpected scenic drive into the Black Forest. Breathtaking. Fortunately, he is also.a skilled driver and enjoyable company. I am confident that any tour with Aarno would be special.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, I really appereciate your review. I am so happy that you enjoyed both Tours with me. I had so nice time with you all and I hope you will come back someday.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Basel.
How much does Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6 cost?
+
Prices start at $600 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Basel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6 take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Basel is not rushed.
Is Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6 worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Basel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6 suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Basel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Basel and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Alsace's Villages, Colmar and Castle Private Car Tour for 1-6 start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Basel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Basel?
+
On Outty we rank every Basel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Alsace wine tour and medieval villages. Small group guided tour, Basel : Private Custom Walking Tour With A Guide (Private Tour), Stories of Basel's Old Town. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Basel?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Basel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
