A waste of time and money in Almaty
This was the worst tour I have ever experienced. There was a change in guide, who arrived 15 minutes late, after delaying the start time by 1hr. He had no information to offer, unless a direct question was asked, was on his phone all the time and asked if we would wait whilst he had his lunch. His guiding was non-existent apart from walking to a couple of places we could have followed on a map. A total disappointment. Not recommended at all.
Response from the operator: Hi Neil, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re very sorry to hear about the delays, lack of information, and overall unprofessionalism you encountered. This is far from the standard we aim to provide. At Guydeez, we want every guest to feel engaged and well taken care of throughout their tour. We’ve already contacted you via email to follow up directly and sincerely apologize for this disappointing experience. Warm wishes, Guydeez Team

Wonderful trip with Dina
Dina was an excellent guide - and Marat arranged everything perfectly. We saw the National Museum, a walk through the areas of interest in Central Almaty, a visit to the subway (at the Silk Road Station), the orthodox cathedral and monuments of the Soviet era, winding up in the fascinating middle of the Central market with Korean traders, those selling horse meat and all manner of things. A true insight into Kazakh life.

What are the best things to do in Almaty?
+
On Outty we rank every Almaty experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kolsai, Kaindy Lakes and Charyn Canyon Small Group Tour, Kolsai Kaindy Lakes with Charyn Canyons 2-day tour, Small-Group Tour: Kolsai & Kaindy Lakes with Charyn Canyons. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Almaty?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Almaty?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
