    What you'll see and do

    1. Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling)

The day begins between 8am and 9am when your private tour guide and personal chauffeur collect you from your hotel lobby. Your first stop is the UNESCO-listed Ming Tombs, about an hour from Beijing. Your guide will accompany you along the Spirit Way, the passage that leads to the 13 tombs where Ming dynasty emperors were buried. Lined with vast, monumental sculptures of guardian animals and officials, it's an impressive entrance to the tombs: rather than walk the entire 4.5-mile (7-kilometer) route, your driver will collect you to drive to the Chang Tomb. Built between 1409 and 1413, the Chang Tomb is the mausoleum of the third Ming dynasty emperor, the Yongle Emperor Zhu Di: his consort, Empress Xu, is buried here too. The largest, oldest and best preserved of the Ming Tombs, its buildings cover an area of 30 acres (12 hectare). You'll have an hour to explore here with your guide.

120 minutes here · Admission included

    2. Mutianyu Great Wall

From here, it's a bit over an hour to the UNESCO-listed Great Wall at Mutianyu. Enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant near the Wall before you explore. This stretch of the Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings – dense woods and rich pastures that change colors with the seasons of the year. It winds its way over 1000 meters to the crest of a mountain, before turning sharply and dipping downhill. You'll have around two hours to explore the Great Wall. It takes around half an hour to hike up on foot, or you can choose to take the cable car or chair lift: it's also possible to toboggan. After you've strolled along the Great Wall and captured iconic pictures, it's about a 2-hour drive back to Beijing. You'll arrive at your hotel between 4 and 5pm.

Our tour guide, Maggie knew all about the history of the areas we visited, as well as being very friendly and accommodating to our group! Our 2nd Tour with the Amazing Lucy Jie Jje

Lucy was such an amazing tour guide, this was our second day with her and we specifically requested her!! She was SO knowledgeable and friendly and answered ALL the questions my family and I had for and trust and believe, WE HAD A LOT especially my father LOL. She was so polite and knew where to take great photos and really helped us enjoy the Great Wall, especially with the limited amount of time that we had. We're definitely friends for LIFE and would recommend any of my friends and family to go on a tour with her!! 10/10 stars!!!

    Amazing Memorable Experience

This was the most amazing day. Our tour guide, Sally, is the very best. She is sweet, friendly, communicates very well and is so knowledgable of the tour destinations, Chinese history, and Chinese customs. I highly recommend the tour and Sally to anyone visiting Beijing. The tour is an exceptional value, I will most definitely tour additional areas with Sally on my next visit to Beijing.

    Great Tour and Fantastic Experience!

The tour was amazing. Sally was great at communicating with us before and during the trip. The driver was very professional and we felt safe while driving to the Great Wall and back. Our tour guide Sally did a fantastic job at balancing the information she provided and giving us some free time to enjoy on ourselves. Food was tasty and we could try several different dishes. We also bought souvenirs at a cheap price and good quality. Overall, I loved the tour and the price is fair!

All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu cost?

    +

Prices start at $86 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does All-Inclusive Private Day Trip to Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Mutianyu start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
